Who hasn’t heard of Toblerone?

The unique triangular chocolate is combined with the indulgent taste of honey and almond nougat.

It dates back to 1908, when it was first developed in Switzerland by Theodor Tobler and his cousin Emil Bauman.

The dynamic duo perfected the recipe of milk chocolate, almonds and nougat that's become a staple in British households today.

The chocolate bar got it’s name from a very clever mixture of Italian words “Tobler”, translating to honey, and “Torrone”, which means almond nougat. Put together make Toblerone.

But did you realise there's also a hidden meaning in the Toblerone logo?

On the recognisable packaging, Toblerone is written in block red capitals.

And at first glance, it looks like a simple sketch of a snowy peak.

However, on closer inspection there is actually a white bear hiding in the picture.

It can be spotted standing up on its legs in the middle of the mountain – and once you’ve seen it its impossible to un see it.

So why a bear?

As it turns out, the white bear plays tribute to birth place of the nutty treat and represents the true origin of Toblerone.

The Swiss capital Bern, where the bar was first created was also known as the ‘City of Bears’.

The town is located near the Matterhorn mountains. This inspired the unique triangular shaped chocolate.

It wasn’t until the year 2000 that the famous peak of the Matterhorn mountains became part of the official logo for Toblerone today.

Since Toblerone launched it's been experimenting with flavours.

There is the classic honey and almond nougat which comes in milk, white and dark chocolate versions.

Other flavours include crispy coconut, fruit & nut and orange.

All this talk of Toblerone has made us feel hungry…
