Transgender woman doesn't want gender affirming healthcare for kids

‘I believe in PROTECTING children’: ‘Right-wing’ transgender woman who transitioned at age 15 insists kids should be banned from starting HRT until they’re 18 – while warning that increased ‘visibility’ of the community has put young people at risk

A right-wing transgender woman who transitioned at age 15 has sparked a furious debate online after stating that she doesn’t believe in gender affirming healthcare for people under 18.

Kelly Cadigan, who is based in the US, recently went viral on TikTok after she revealed that she believes minors shouldn’t be allowed to medically transition – and her stance has lead to a major argument between other social media users.

In a video shared last month, which has now been viewed more than 4.6 million times, Kelly said that she believes the ‘visibility’ that people like Caitlynn Jenner brought to the ‘trans community’ has only ‘brought it down.’

‘Back before people knew what it was to be trans, before Caitlynn Jenner came out, it meant a lot more when a child would say, “I feel like I’m the other gender,” because they didn’t really know what it meant to be trans,’ she explained.

‘It wasn’t something that was just taught to them, they didn’t just pick it up and hear it somewhere and think, “Oh I want that label.”‘

Kelly explained that she thinks transgender people ‘should go through a lot of therapy’ to ‘make sure it’s right for them’ before starting the transition process.

‘Back before people knew what it was to be trans, before Caitlynn Jenner came out, it meant a lot more when a child would say, “I feel like I’m the other gender,” because they didn’t really know what it meant to be trans,’ she explained. She’s seen after her bottom surgery

She also fiercely believes that you should be at least 18 years old before you’re allowed to start hormone replacement therapy or undergo surgery.

‘If you want to call me a conservative, call me a conservative, but I believe in protecting children,’ she continued.

‘[People who transition] should be over the age of 18, and I’m saying that as someone who transitioned at 15.

‘The age in this country that you can consent to medication is 18 years of age, I feel like that’s how it should be with hormone replacement therapy.

‘I’m not saying that you can’t experiment with clothing when you’re younger, I don’t see the harm in that. But honestly, I’m very lucky to not regret the decision I made at 15 years old.’

Kelly pointed out that while she’s happy with the results of her transition – she has received two breast augmentations and bottom surgery – ‘not everyone’ feels the way she does, and some even realize it was a mistake afterwards but can’t go back.

She added: ‘It wasn’t something that was just taught to them, they didn’t just pick it up and hear it somewhere and think, “Oh I want that label”‘

‘It’s because kids are being fed this stuff thinking they’re trans, they transition, and then have regrets,’ she added

‘I’m trying to protect people and you guys are making me look like I’m a monster,’ Kelly stated

‘It’s because kids are being fed this stuff thinking they’re trans, they transition, and then have regrets,’ she added.

‘Then they can’t get out of the body because of the permanent changes that hormones create.

‘I’m trying to protect people and you guys are making me look like I’m a monster.’

In a second video, Kelly described transitioning as a ‘permanent, life-changing decision,’ while speaking out about some of the down sides or complications that can arise during the process.

She pointed out that certain puberty blockers can cause ‘sterilization,’ while adding, ‘Do you think a 14 year old should be making that choice?

Kelly’s videos have resulted in thousands of comments from some people who agreed with her and others who disagreed

West Virginia recently joined 11 other states which have already passed laws or policies that restrict gender-affirming healthcare for people under 18

‘I love that I’m female now, I love my transition, but I was in a rush. I wanted to get on HRT as fast as possible, that’s what doctors were pushing me to do.

‘And now, I’m never able to have a biological child. Because I didn’t want to take the time to go to a bank. These are children, children are impulsive. Protect the children.’

According to Oregon Health & Science University, puberty blockers alone don’t effect your ability to have a baby, but when mixed with certain hormones it can cause sterilization.
