Twitter users can’t agree on name for ice pops as some call them ‘Otter Popps’

The weather has been glorious in the UK.

And when the sun's shining, that could only mean one thing… ice lollies!

Whether it's from the ice cream van or in the bottom drawer of your freezer, we all love a colourful ice pop to slurp on.

But according to social media users, ice lollies aren't actually the name for them.

That's right, there's a Twitter debate going on over the name of the water-based frozen snack.

It all happened when @zuckrs shared an image of a number of different frozen treats with the caption: "What do you call these?

"I'll start: Freezies."

The post scooped hundreds of likes and retweets with many Twitter users sharing their own names for them.

One called them "popsicles", while another thought there were "icy poles" or just "flavoured ice".

Someone even called them "Otter Popps" (a brand in the US), while "Zooper Dooper" was another common answer from Australians.

Another Twitter user gave a sassy response, writing: "Ice pops is the only answer."

As some claimed the correct name was "ice lolly", others shared images of Twisters and Fruit Pastille lollies to prove a point.

Sadly no definite answer was given so it looks like we'll be arguing over the name for quite some time.

Previously, Brits were left divided over the name of the kids game where you knock on doors and run.

A Twitter user asked the question: "When you were younger what did you call it when you knock on someone's door and run away?"

Thousands of users replies with one writing: "Knock a door run."

Another suggested the game was actually called: "Knock a dolly."
