‘WandaVision’ Mid-Season Trailer Gives Marvel Fans a Taste of What is To Come in the Trippy Disney Plus Series

It’s gonna be a gas!

Marvel fans were treated this morning to a mid-season trailer of the trippy, time-hopping Disney Plus original “WandaVision,” a blend of sitcom tropes through the decades and Marvel Comics lore all wrapped up in a not-so-neat (or linear) story centered on Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany). Though the 90-second spot doesn’t reveal much to solve the series’ many puzzles, it does showcase a couple of new scenes, namely of S.W.O.R.D. agent Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) in the present, nosy neighbor Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) in the ’80s, and Wanda and Vision in later television eras. The trailer also shows scenes from the first couple of episodes, including clips of Doctor Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) and Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) trying to solve the broadcast case.

“WandaVision” was the first Marvel Studios original to debut exclusively on Disney Plus. Next up on Marvel’s slate for the Disney streaming platform is “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as the titular superheroes, set to drop on March 19, 2021. The first two episodes of the series premiered on Disney Plus on Jan. 15, followed by weekly episodes.

The show was directed by Matt Shakman (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “Fargo,” “Game of Thrones”) and created by head writer Jac Schaeffer, who also wrote the upcoming MCU film “Black Widow.” The Scarlet Johansson-starring origin story has had its release pushed back multiple times now due to the effects of COVID-19 on the film and entertainment industry. Its latest debut date is May 7, 2021, in theaters (so far, Marvel has no plans on premiering the movie on Disney Plus).

Check out the full mid-season trailer for “WandaVision” below. Episode 5 of the nine-episode series will arrive on the platform on Feb. 5.
