Wetherspoons punter makes Top Trumps cards that rank chips for taste and size

Wetherspoons – home to cheap pints and the nation's most devoted chip lovers.

The bargain pub chain provided inspiration for popular Facebook group ‘Wetherspoons paltry chip count’, which sees punters count and compare their plate of fries.

But now, members are getting even more creative with their posts.

One commenter on the popular page was branded a "chip legend" when they created Top Trump cards based on Spoons food.

Boris Bennet meticulously created 17 cards that included pictures of chips being measured by rulers and used in electric circuits.

He has even included a card with a snap of a bloke stuffing his face with the chunky chips.

The chip and game master has ranked the card's value with five different categories.

Boris has put the chip data into the following sections: “Creativity, taste, price, temperature".

And of course the most important category, “Number of chips.”

Hilariously, on the back of the cards a grinning snap of Wetherspoons founder Tim Martin can also be seen.

Boris captioned the Facebook post: “Evening all.

“A measly 26 chips at the Picture House in Morley.

“Tonight however I bring you my latest creation, Wetherspoons Top Trumps.”

He continued: “Each card represents one of the most significant posts ever put in this group.

“If anyone ever sees me with my cards at one of the tables in the future, come sit down with me and we'll have a game.”

It appears that Boris’ cards are one of a kind which means unfortunately no one can get their hands on a set just yet – unless you find Boris with his cards.

The Facebook group dedicated to the pub chips now boasts a whopping 249,000 members – a staggering difference to the 5,400 when we first reported on the page.

Amazed at Boris’ creativity, many people rushed to the comments to praise the Wetherspoons chip enthusiast.

One person commented: “Where else in the world would you get something as ridiculous but as beautiful as this, what a place.”

Another user added: “If you can find a way to mass produce this, that is all my Christmas presents sorted!”

A third person remarked: “Your chip-related creativity knows no bounds!”

Someone else simply said: “Chip Legend”

Meanwhile, a fifth user noted: This is the greatest thing ever and I salute you sir!
