Xolo Maridueña is a rapidly rising star. He received his big break with Parenthood at just 11 years old and later made an even bigger name for himself with the hit Karate Kid spinoff Cobra Kai. Now, he’s set to portray DC’s first Latino superhero, Blue Beetle, in the upcoming 2023 film. What is Maridueña’s net worth?
[Spoiler alert: The third section of this story contains spoilers for Cobra Kai Season 4.]
Xolo Maridueña’s career, from ‘Parenthood’ to ‘Cobra Kai’ and ‘Blue Beetle’
Maridueña kicked off his acting career in 2012 when he took on the role of Victor Graham in Parenthood, according to IMDb. The young actor remained in the cast until the hit NBC series came to an end in 2015. Over the next few years, Maridueña took on a few guest roles in shows like Rush Hour, Twin Peaks, and Mack & Moxy.
From 2019 to 2021, Maridueña voiced Andres and Andrea in the TV short series Victor & Valentino. Around the same time, he also voiced Zaid in Cleopatra in Space.
Maridueña has starred as Miguel Diaz in Cobra Kai since 2018. The series just released its fourth season on Netflix in late December, with a fifth season on the way. In the meantime, Blue Beetle is in pre-production for a theatrical release in 2023. The movie follows a Mexican teen who receives superpowered armor from an alien beetle.
Speaking to Variety in January, Maridueña called his Blue Beetle role a “stepping stone in [his] life,” especially when it comes to taking on stunts. The actor has done plenty of karate stunts for Cobra Kai, but superhero stunts will be a new experience.
“I’ve gotten the chance to build chemistry with these people over the years on Cobra Kai. To try to recreate that chemistry in a much shorter amount of time is gonna be difficult, but all of these guys are professionals,” he explained. “I know that I’m in the hands of people who are the best at what they do.”
Xolo Maridueña net worth
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Xolo Maridueña has a net worth of $2 million. That’s twice as much as some of his Cobra Kai co-stars, including Gianni Decenzo and Tanner Buchanan.
‘Cobra Kai’ Season 5 will send Xolo Maridueña’s character, Miguel, to Mexico
In Cobra Kai, Maridueña plays Miguel Diaz, a loyal karate student under Johnny Lawrence’s (William Zabka) wing. At the end of season 4, Miguel drops out of the All-Valley Karate Tournament to find his father, who is presumably living in Mexico. He leaves town without telling anyone, only writing a note for his mother to find at their home.
Maridueña teased some of Miguel’s journey through Mexico in his interview with Variety. He admitted that the teen’s decision might not be the safest or smartest. Still, Maridueña thinks Miguel can handle himself. The actor said:
This is the new Latin lover Miguel! Heading over to Mexico, it’s a clean slate. I’m going out on this mission and honestly it’s a bit naive. Mexico is a big place. It’s a big, ambitious goal that he wants, but I think if we’ve seen anything it’s that he’s the underdog. He’s one of the new generation’s Daniel LaRussos. If anyone can do it, it’s him.
Cobra Kai Seasons 1 through 4 are now streaming on Netflix.
