- A drinks expert revealed what people’s beverage says about their personality
- Enjoying a Bloody Mary could mean you are seeking approval from friends
- Liking a Gin and Tonic could even mean you have ‘psychotic’ behaviour traits
Everyone has their favourite tipple, but what does your favourite alcoholic beverage say about your personality?
Drinks expert Steph Buttery, 31, creator of British fizzy drinks brand Chu Lo, claims that different cocktails reflect different personality traits.
From being adventurous if you like Margaritas to having elements of psychotic behaviours if you like a Gin and Tonic, these insights will make you think twice about the next drink you order.
Here, Buttery tells FEMAIL what your choice of alcoholic drink says about your personality…
Daiquiri: Stressed out and disorganised
If a Daiquiri is your favourite tipple, it’s likely you’re often running late and are a disorganised person
Sweet tastes all have sugar in them, which sends a signal of pleasure to our brains when it touches the tongue.
People that frequently opt for sugary foods tend to be stressed, craving those sugar sensations to boost the feeling of pleasure and delight. Sugar lovers will be running late, disorganised and always have a sugary soft drink to hand.
These pleasure seekers love a sweet cocktail such as a fruity Daiquiri and are guaranteed to be the best company at a party.
Their time keeping might be disastrous but they are all about living in the moment. Their constant need to feel pleasure, means they are often seeking approval from others.
Saying ‘yes’ to everything can be their downfall and is often the reason why they are feeling burnt out and in desperate need of a sugar fix.
Gin and tonic: Psychotic tendancies
A Gin and Tonic is one of the most popular drinks of choice in the UK but enjoying its taste may mean you enjoy the ‘darker side of life’
Bitter tastes have been linked to psychotic behaviours. Seeking bitter tastes suggests you like things that are a bit on the darker side of life and enjoy seeking sensations.
Having psychopathic tendencies plays in their favour as they cope well under pressure and are often one step ahead of the person next to them.
It’s also been suggested that people who favour bitter tastes are more likely to be anti-social and individual.
Look out for Gin and Tonic drinkers being on the quieter side and secretly judging the room. Although they might be slightly anti-social, this plays in their favour as they don’t get easily led and tend to be the trendsetters.
Enjoying the darker side of life suggests people who enjoy a bitter taste like a G&T aren’t easily offended and often don’t care about what others think about them.
They are assertive and always trust their own opinion.
Bloody Mary: Thrillseekers
With its strong kick, enjoying the taste of a Bloody Mary could mean you seek approval as you try to endure its spiciness
People who are risk takers, thrillseekers or seek approval typically go for the spicier options. Liking spice is commonly linked with loving rewards.
Experiencing incredibly spicy food can provoke physical reactions, like sweating and burning, which people will subconsciously feel as a reward for enduring the high level of spice.
Approval-seekers in particular will always ask for extra hot sauce.
A drink of their choice would be a Bloody Mary, and as thrill seekers love to live life on the edge they could sip one of these any time of day.
Their love of rewards means they are less likely to give up and can often be found pushing themselves too hard in order to get the result they want.
They work more efficiently than others and are more likely to become successful, as they aren’t worried about failing and are happy to take risks.
Pisco sour: Energetic
Sourness is in the name and for a Pisco or Whiskey Sour that means its drinkers are likely to come across extremely confident and self-assured
Those who love sour drinks and sweets are energetic and hyperactive.
You’ll find people who love to be active opting for sour sweets and drinks as their preferred treat of choice.
In social situations, people who enjoy a pisco or whiskey sour are not only are they energetic and enthusiastic, but they can also come across extremely confident and self-assured.
Their positive energy can brighten up any room and they can easily adapt to any social situation.
Although they love to be active, it can be difficult trying to make plans with those who love a sour taste as they are always busy doing something.
Sour tastes were originally associated with citrus fruits, which provide the body with vitamin C.
People have developed a taste for other sour foods because it reminds us of that vitamin C boost in energy.
Margarita: Adventurer
Margarita lovers have a love of adventure that is paired with a safety-aware mind, meaning they are not just thrillseekers or adrenaline junkies
Salt is slightly different to the other tastes and much more scientific.
Liking salt has been linked to quite a specific personality trait — enjoying new experiences.
People who love to add more salt to their food will be the first to try something new and are always seeking new adventures rather than opting for a walk in the park.
You’ll always have a good time with a Margarita drinker.
Often bored of going to the same places, their need for adventure means there will never be a dull moment with them.
A desire for new experiences is great for their social life but not always their professional life.
They like a challenge and as soon as something becomes easy or repetitive, they are more than likely to change direction.
Even so, their love of adventure comes with a desire not to go into harm’s way, meaning they are not quite a thrillseeker or adrenaline junkie.
