Over the past few weeks, Royal Mail has been experiencing delays to its postal service. While the company is doing its best to clear the backlog, as of today, Monday 17 January, there are still several postcodes across the UK which are affected and are waiting for their post to be delivered. Here is the latest update.
Royal Mail operates between an air, rail and road network.
Over the weekend, the air and rail network “operated to schedule” but the road network experienced delays.
The official website explains: “On Sunday, some mail scheduled to arrive at our National Distribution Centre from Belfast Mail Centre was delayed, due to an issue with the trailer on the vehicle.
“This meant that some mail posted in the BT postcode area on Saturday due for delivery today in other parts of the UK, may arrive later than planned.
“Also on Sunday, mail scheduled to arrive at our National Distribution Centre from Chester, Preston and Warrington Mail Centres arrived at the North West Hub, after being diverted.
“This meant that not all mail could be processed to schedule.
“As a result, some mail posted on Saturday in the CH, LL, SY, BB, FY, LA, PR, CW, L, WA and WN postcode areas due for delivery today in other parts of the UK, may arrive later than planned,” the statement read.
There are also a couple of mail centres that have not processed or despatched all mail to schedule over the last 24 hours.
The centres affected are:
Dorset Mail Centre: Some mail posted on Friday in the BH and DT postcode areas, due for delivery Saturday to addresses across the rest of the UK.
Plymouth Mail Centre: Some mail was posted across the UK on Friday, due for delivery Saturday in the PL postcode area.
