Woman claims she was told to ‘wait outside’ garage due to ‘inappropriate’ top

A woman who showed up at a car inspection site in a crop top claimed she was asked to leave because her outfit was "inappropriate".

Tia Wood turned to TikTok and shared her encounter with the viewers, hoping to change the perception of how women’s bodies should be viewed or treated.

In the video, she reveals her outfit that she wore on the day – a burgundy crop top and a denim shorts – before sarcastically saying: "Was told to wait outside the inspection station because the shirt was too inappropriate.

"Didn't know getting your car inspected had a dress code."

"I probably wouldn't have passed had I stayed inside, you know, with my shirt," Tia fumed.

She later called the customer service hotline to ask if there was any dress code policy at the test centre.

In the video, the operator can be heard answering: "No we don't have a certain dress code. We just require that you wear a face covering."

Tia then asks: "I don't know if you could help me with this but I was kicked out of the inspection station yesterday because of something I was wearing and if there was not a dress code, do you know why it may have happened?"

The staff member replied: "Now they do have a procedure when they inspect cars they do ask that you get out of the vehicle and direct you to go wait at the area with other customers.

  • Woman horrified as neighbours ‘call police on her over inappropriate outfit’

"So they told you you weren't allowed to wait in the waiting area because of your outfit and you had a crop top on and shorts?"

She went on and explained to Tia that it's the first time she had heard of this and said she will report it to a manager.

Tia received a wave of responses after posting the videos and many supported her.

  • Waitress sent home for 'inappropriate' top gets fired after her tearful clip goes viral

A viewer said: "I'm getting the jealousy vibes from the inspection station because you look fire."

Another commented: "I wear crop tops everywhere, especially for running errands. It's hot."

But some said her top was more like a "bathing suit top" and it justifiably is not considered appropriate clothing.

"Most places have a dress code where that wouldn't be considered a shirt," one pointed out.
