Woman opens up about her negative Botox lip flip experience

Woman opens up about her Botox ‘lip flip’ procedure, which she describes as the ‘most annoying thing ever’, saying it left her struggling to rub her lips together, speak, and drink

  • Pamela, from Dublin, Ireland, posted on TikTok about Botox ‘lip flip’ procedure
  • Involves injecting above upper lip with Botox to ‘flip’ it out so it looks fuller
  • The treatment left Pamela struggling to speak properly, drink or apply lipstick
  • Reaction was divided, some people were sympathetic, while others were less so

A woman who underwent a Botox ‘lip flip’ procedure has slammed the results – saying the injections have left her unable to drink a cup of tea or speak properly.

TikTok user Pamela, from Dublin, opened up about the treatment in a recent video on the platform, describing the results as the ‘most annoying thing ever’ and urging others not to try it themselves.

Lip flips are a popular non-permanent cosmetic procedure, in which small amounts of Botox are injected above the upper lip. By relaxing the muscle, the lip is said to ‘flip out’, creating a fuller-looking pout, without fillers.

However, because the jabs freeze the muscles, there can be some unintended side effects, which Pamela highlighted in her video, which has garnered 1.9 million views.

She revealed that she is experiencing some of these effects, and is currently unable to blow a cup of tea to cool it down or apply lipstick.

Pamela, from Dublin, pictured here before having the cosmetic injections, says she would definitely not recommend the ‘lip flip’ procedure, which is cheaper than having a lip filler

As a result of the injections, Pamela has struggled with some ‘annoying’ side effects – including not being able to rub her lips together or purse them

Pamela, who says she will shun botox in the future, and instead go for lip filler – the more expensive option, filmed herself before getting the procedure, then again five days later.

In the video, she says: ‘Today is day five of the lip flip and it’s the most annoying thing ever. I can see a tiny difference, but it’s all in the middle of my lip and not so much at the sides.

‘It’s really annoying when I speak and say words like “bobby”.’

She then listed other annoying things that the procedure has stopped her from doing – including putting on lipstick, as she can’t rub her lips together to evenly spread the product.

She also now finds it hard to drink properly and said: ‘Having a drink [is also a challenge]. Trying to hold it in your mouth is actually so hard.’

With regard hot drinks, she added: ‘Another annoying thing you can’t do is to blow a cup of tea.’

The Irish beauty complained the lip flip only made a visible difference to the middle of her top lip and not the sides

The lip flip turned out to be a lip flop, but some TikTok followers weren’t sympathetic and poked fun at the video

She summed up the experience by saying she would ‘not recommend to a friend’ and that people should ‘stick to filler’, adding that the ‘results are not worth the annoyance’.

However, her TikTok followers were divided on the post.

Some were quick to sympathise and offer advice, while others poked fun at her, and others noted that they had had the same treatment, but hadn’t suffered from the same side effects.

Reactions to the video were mixed, some said they hadn’t had the same effects from their lip flips, others said they were now questioning whether to do it, while others laughed at the clip

One wrote: ‘I lost it when you tried to blow your cup of tea.’

Another added: ‘I lost it when you tried to rub your lips together.’

Others also shared their experience, saying they had loved the procedure.

One wrote: ‘I had lip flip done and did not experience any of this.’

But another said: ‘I have been thinking about getting this done and you’re changing my mind.’
