With most people having an online presence nowadays, it can become very easy to compare yourself to others.
And when people tend to post the ‘best’ parts of their lives, it can make some people insecure that they are not as ‘happy’ as others.
But body positive influencer and journalist Danae Mercer has exposed how fellow content creators can ‘edit’ themselves into looking happy even when they are actually in floods of tears.
She demonstrated the sneaky trick to her 172,000 TikTok followers which revealed how she was able to quickly manipulate the photo of her face.
Danae wrote in the clip: “Watch how easy it is to edit sad into happy.”
At first Danae showed a bare face snap of herself when she was crying and had a frown.
She then tapped a quick edit which completely smoothed out her face, removed her tears, and added some glam makeup.
The influencer then added volume to her hair – and most importantly a dashing smile showing some pearly whites.
Behind the edited snap is a photo of Danae looking sad, and without her having revealed that it was just retouched no one would have known any different.
She assured her followers: “And it’s okay to cry.”
Stunned at Danae’s clip, many people fled to the comments to thank her for shedding light on the issue.
One person commented: “Bruh imagine the amount of girls who have done this.”
Another user added: “Gosh, I love your channel so much. Makes me feel so much more confident.”
Whilst a third person voiced: “Jesus, I don’t trust anything now.”
Someone else shared: “This is terrifying!”
Meanwhile, a fifth person expressed: “The internet has always been a crazy place, but jeez.”
