A woman has shocked thousands after sharing a video that shows what’s really lurking inside your water bottle – and why you need to clean it right now in order to prevent dirt and mould from growing.
TikTok user Lilli Madsen caused a stir when she shared the ‘gross discovery’ she made inside her bottle by the cult brand Frank Green.
In the footage, Lilli used a cotton tip to wipe the inside of the straw before discovering dirt on the swab that was invisible to the naked eye.

Lilli said: ‘It’s been weeks/months since I’ve given my bottle a good clean.
‘Take this as your personal reminder to clean your Frank Green straw.’
Hundreds who saw the clip were also horrified by Lilli’s discovery:
‘I just cleaned mine after watching this,’ one commenter wrote.
‘I needed this today,’ another added.
But others said theirs were even worse when they did it, writing: ‘I had to use four ear buds because they were coming out covered in black stuff every time I put it inside the straw’.

Another TikTok user called SlimShaydy shared a similar video – this time showing how mould can easily grow inside the bottle and around the grooves of the lid if not cleaned regularly.
‘Don’t be a refiller and straw washer like me and wash your bottles regularly!’ she wrote.
Her clip showed a layer of dirt sitting at the bottom of her pale pink bottle and black mould beginning to grow around the straw insert of the lid.
More than 1,000 people were quick to comment underneath her clip writing: ‘Definitely cleaning my bottle now’.

Some people online recommend using denture clear tablets and warm water.
