You’ve been cooking fried eggs wrong – adding water makes the yolk perfect

A TikTok user has revealed the secret to cooking perfect sunny-side-up eggs with a firm egg white and a runny yolk.

In the video, user @katclark86 demonstrates the technique and shows two freshly-cracked eggs in the frying pan.

She then adds a small amount of water, which immediately starts boiling in the hot pan, and adds a lid on top so the white quickly solidifies and the yolk turns pale pink.

Kat explains: "How to cook the perfect eggs every single time: add water to the pan and cover it.

"Let the steam cook on top of the eggs.

"I usually let it sit for about 30 seconds, I like my eggs super-running but I hate that white stuff if it isn’t cooked properly."

Kate serves the amazing-looking eggs on top of sauteed spinach and button mushrooms for a healthy breakfast.

"Then you just pop it on your mushrooms and baby spinach and it’s still really really gooey," she says, giving the pink yolk a poke.

She then cuts into the yolk with a knife, letting the rich yolk ooze out onto the mushrooms.

Many foodies appreciated the tutorial and said they liked their eggs the same way.

"OMG finally I like gooey yellow stuff but hate the egg whites undercooked," gushed one viewer.

Another person said: "Thank you so much this has changed my egg game, best Tiktok hack I have ever seen."

But one troll blasted the eggs as "uncooked and s***" and other people reckoned you don't need to add water and the lid alone will cook the eggs.

"I don’t care what anyone says eggs fried on both sides is best," said another viewer.

Giving an extra tip in the comments, Kat says if you have a "really good" non-stick pan there is no need to use oil and butter.
