Amanda Owen hits back as trolls say kids won’t cope in real world after TV show

Amanda Owen, 47, and husband Clive, 66, are parents to nine children who Amanda believes are fiercely independent following their childhood on Ravenseat farm.

Speaking to Sophie Ellis Bextor on her podcast Spinning Plates, the Our Yorkshire Farm star explained that some parents had perceived the way she raised her children as unconventional.

She said: "they [my children] are getting really good life lessons they can translate and take to any other life wherever that should be – whether it's in the countryside or in the city.

"Because people say [to me], 'Oh they are not growing up in the real world, they'll never be able to cope with real life'.

"But they are actually learning lessons, that will set them up really well to be people who are hands-on and people who've got a degree of common sense and can do things."

The couple's nine children are Raven, 20, Reuben, 17, Miles, 15, Edith, 12, Violet, ten, Sidney, nine, Anna , seven, Clemmie, five and finally four-year-old Nancy.

Amanda also explained that one of the nine children even learnt to ride a bike without any assistance from the parents, a sign of their independence.

At the weekend, fans of Amanda were wowed by pictures of the shepherdess as she basked in the sunshine whilst enjoying the fresh air on her farm.

Amanda posted the photos to her Instagram, where she has almost 400k followers, as she keeps fans entertained with photos and images of her life on her farm.

The latest photos were taking a walk she took over the weekend with her sheepdog after the young female sheep on her farm had escaped through a gap in a wall.

Alongside images of the escaped animals and beautiful landscape, Amanda shared two stunning pictures of herself enjoying the sunshine.

She captioned the post: "Dropped off in pickup to walk back through the pastures where there is a gap in the wall. The gimmer hoggs (young females) have found it and escaped.

"There were so many biting insects about to say it is late in the year. #yorkshire #shepherdess #sheepdog #sheep #farm #sunshine #countryside #outdoors"

The first snap of the post shows off her natural beauty as she smiles into the camera in a stunning selfie, she is wearing a strappy black top and has her hair messy – framed by the bright blue skies behind her head.

In another pic she is looking away from the camera with her eyes facing down whilst the sun shines on her glistening tanned skin.

The post has received more than 23K likes and adoring fans were quick to share their love for the stunning photos.

One commented: "Beautiful lady"
