Over the last few years, Andrea Bocelli has begun performing with his talented children, who are clearly following in his footsteps. His 25-year-old son Matteo Bocelli has already released singles this year ahead of his debut solo album set to debut in 2023. Meanwhile, his 10-year-old daughter Virginia Bocelli has shown off her singing skills too, in duets with her maestro father. And now the trio are promoting their family Christmas album with some incredible live performances.

After singing their new festive song The Greatest Gift at the Royal Albert Hall for the Festival of Remembrance earlier this month, the Bocellis have made their way back to their home country. Heading to Milan Cathedral, where Andrea famously performed a special Easter concert during lockdown, the trio surprised fans nearby in the Piazza Duomo.

Dressed in white, they performed Italian song Il Giorno Più Speciale, which translates The Most Special Day, high up on the balcony of the Mondadori Store. The special rendition followed the release of a festive music video for the song and an announcement of their upcoming steaming event on December 4.

The Bocellis will be the protagonists in the streaming event that is a fairy tale and concert all in one, held between the castle and streets of Gressoney in Northern Italy.

The family teased: “Set in the heart of an Italian Winter Wonderland at magical Gressoney in Valle d’Aosta, one of the most enchanting mountain towns in the world, the Bocelli family showcase their multigenerational talent in an intimate festive sing-along.

“The special opens with Virginia’s angelic voice on beloved classic Over The Rainbow. Vocally united with her father, Virginia is transported across the mountainous landscape in a hot air balloon that she dreamt up in her notebook only moments ago. With the wonder of a child on Christmas morning, the youngest of the family discovers a decorated castle where the rest of the family await to start Christmas festivities.”

Meanwhile, Andrea has spoken exclusively with Express.co.uk about his daughter’s musical talent and future.

At the time, Bocelli told us: “Virginia is nine-years-old. She loves music. She likes to sing. She studies piano. She does artistic gymnastics at a competitive level. She is in tune and naturally grew up on bread and music, just like her brothers.

“For the moment, sharing the stage with her father is little more than a game for her, as it should be, since she is still a child. Studying music is always useful in any case. But I think that it is fundamental that children realise their aspirations, putting their talents to good use, regardless of their parents’ ambitions.”

A Family Christmas is out now.
