Andrea McLean’s business has just £2 in accounts after fears of losing her home

Andrea McLean's accounts for her business show that she has just £2 sitting in the bank, following reports which stated she feared losing her home.

The broadcaster made the decision to step down from her role as Loose Women anchor in the late stages of 2020, 13 years after she first joined the panel show in order to put maximum effort into her business which she shares with husband Nick.

Her company which is listed as "Retail sale of clothing" and "Retail sale of cosmetic and toilet articles," was established in 2018 with its most recent accounts being filed in December 2019.

Documents submitted to Companies House show that the company which was listed as "dormant" had just £2 in the bank at the time.

However, new figures are said to be submitted before the end of March ahead of the new tax year – which could show an increase in profits.

The 51-year-old journalist has other forms of income, including television work and being a best-selling author, with her book This Girl is On Fire topping the Sunday Times Bestsellers list in October.

Scottish-born Andrea revealed that stepping down from her role on Loose Women was "scary" and admitted she thought she may end up having to sell her family home.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, she said: "It took months of thinking about it. We were preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. Nick and I sat down and wrote what we needed to prepare for.

"Worst case – we would have to sell the house. Best, the This Girl Is On Fire membership and website we've set up works and we're successful with that."

Andrea broke down in tears live on air as she announced her departure from the show, joking she would be "like the landlady of the Rovers Return" and would soon find herself back at the television studio.

Sharing the news, she said: "Last year I had a nervous breakdown and what I felt was this year, collectively, the world had a breakdown.

"The experience I had means that this year I was mentally really strong to deal with everything that the pandemic threw at us."

The former ITV weather presenter continued: "But it made me stop and think: 'What do I actually want?' If there is anything that can show us you only get one life…

"Are you living it the way you want? Doing everything you want to do? Being brave and taking chances? And I realised no."

While attempting to stop herself from crying, she added: "I'll be leaving soon."

After fronting the show since 1999 and interviewing some of the biggest names on the planet including One Direction, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears – Andrea bid her farewell to the show on December 16.
