Anne Robinson speaks out on Rachel Riley feud as she admits shes hard to please

Anne Robinson has broken her silence on her Countdown ‘feud’ with long standing presenter Rachel Riley and confessed she is “hard to please”.

Since the former Weakest Link star took over the position back in June, there have been rumours surrounding the trio that everything isn’t as easy as it seems backstage.

Last month, a source close to the 77-year-old revealed to The Sun how the mathematician and the host have clashed over dressing rooms, makeup artists and wardrobe budgets on the Channel 4 quiz show.

The mum-of-two has been open about her thoughts since Anne took over the hot seat from The Apprentice star Nick Hewer in June and admitted that she was “very matter of fact” in person.

Now, her colleague has shared her thoughts on what it has been like working with the blonde bombshell on the show.

During an interview with Rachel Johnson, the quiz show host was asked directly about the feud on set.

She confessed: “They’re brilliant – both of them actually. Every time I'm astonished how she [Rachel] does that adding up and subtracting – just seconds, absolutely seconds, amazing.”

“I hope I'm always described as difficult, awkward, tricky, impatient, menopausal, any sort of pejorative, grumpy.”

When she asked if she was ‘b****y’ she replied: “Not particularly – hard to please”.

Her admission comes after Rachel opened up about Anne’s time on Countdown with OK! Magazine and how her presenting style contrasts to previous hosts.

The 35-year-old told the publication: “She found her feet very quickly and soon made the show her own. She's comfortable bantering with the contestants.

“She’s called out some comedians and you can tell they’re up for a fight. They come in with their lines prepared. She's not known for suffering fools gladly.

When asked if she was the same off-screen as she appears on the show, Rachel confessed: “I don’t think anyone would describe Anne as cuddly.

“She’s very matter-of-fact. To be honest though, due to the pandemic we haven’t been able to socialise like we normally would.”
