Bebe Rexha admits she was almost ‘married off’ in traditional wedding as teen

Bebe Rexha has revealed she was almost “married off” as a teenager.

The singer/songwriter had boys fighting for her hand in marriage when she was younger, as it's custom in Albanian culture to wed young.

She explained: "My mum got married at 17, it's a completely different world.

"My grandma got married at 15, like married off, like arranged marriage.

"It's completely changed now, it's so much more modern and women have more rights and stuff like that, but when I was younger there were literally guys trying to take my hand in marriage. It was part of the culture.

"It's like, you marry an Albanian and you get married super young and you have kids."

Bebe credits her mum with saving her and fighting for her rights to chase her dream of being a star.

"Growing up I wasn't allowed to have a voice or speak at the table and stuff like that, but my mum fought for me a lot and she was like, 'My daughter is not getting married off, what the hell'."

Despite living her dream now, Bebe grew up sheltered and admitted she didn't have her first kiss until eight years ago, at the age of 23.

She added: "I was 23, kind of late, I was scared.

"I was just scared of guys, I don't know why and it was a very bad kiss, it was very bad."

Although she's happy in a relationship with filmmaker Keyan Safyari, Bebe admitted to having a thing for Harry Styles.

Speaking on the This Is Paris podcast, she confessed: "I think Harry Styles is really cute. I have a little crush on him.

"I'm not gonna lie, I saw him at the Grammys and then he took his shirt off or something and I was like, 'Woah, this is making me feel a certain way' and that doesn't happen often."

Bebe was left "upset" this week after her album Better Mistakes failed to take off.

In the Rolling Stone music charts, she debuted at number 129 and slipped a few paces lower on Billboard too, landing at number 140.

Not wanting to shy away, she addressed her disappointment on Twitter but explained she was only going to try harder to reach her goals.

She penned: "Upsetting. But I won't give up.

"My career was built on failures and not following the mould. I won't stop. I never have and never will. I still believe in this album. And I still will push."
