Betty White said she is lucky to feel so good in final interview before death

Betty White, who has died aged 99, said she was "lucky" to be in "such good health" weeks before her death.

She would have turned 100 on January 17. Her agent Jeff Witjas told People magazine: “Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live for ever.”

Sources close to TMZ have said that Betty didn't have any sudden illness and it is believed that she died from natural causes.

Prior to her death, the famous actress sat down for a chat with People magazine, which ultimately became Betty's last interview as she landed a cover photo to celebrate her 100th birthday next month.

Asked how she felt about turning 100 years old, Betty said: "I'm so lucky to be in such good health and feel so good at this age."

"It's amazing."

Betty credited being "born a cockeyed optimist" as the key to her upbeat nature.

"I got it from my mom, and that never changed," she said. "I always find the positive."

As for her diet, White joked: "I try to avoid anything green. I think it's working."

Born in 1922, White enjoyed a stellar career of more than eight decades, receiving eight Emmys, one Grammy and three Screen Actors Guild Awards. She was considered a television pioneer who pushed doors open for herself and for many other women who dreamed of working in television.
