Britain's Got Talent star David Watson has been found dead at his home aged 62.

It has been reported that the comedian, who is from Altrincham, died on Thursday, with police breaking into his home shortly after as family members raised concerns when he wasn't picking up messages.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A source told The Sun: "His family couldn't get hold of him for a few days. He wasn't picking up and his Whatsapp messages were all still unread."

The publication also reported that his front door was boarded up last week from the police forcing entry into his property.

David appeared on the show multiple times, but his first stint was back in 2008 as he did impressions of Tony Blair, William Hague and David Blunkett.

He returned once again in 2010 and an additional time in 2013, before auditioning for the show every year after that.

BGT judge Amanda Holden shared tribute to the comedian on her Instagram as she wrote: "So sad to hear that David Watson has passed away.

"He was always up for a laugh and such a good sport on BGT. We will miss him."

David said how he "loved" the show, previously telling Manchester Evening News: "I just love being on the show. To be on TV is very good because I get recognised in the Trafford Centre and people ask me for a selfie – I feel pretty honoured about it."

He added: "Ant and Dec are always pleased to have me back and I used to get on very well with Stephen Mulhern before they stopped doing Britain's Got More Talent."

David told the publication that his favourite judge was always David Walliams because he was "more confident" with him and set that Simon Cowell is "very nice" when he's not on TV.

Earlier this year he said how he was preparing for his next audition and said that he would be doing a magic trick which would be "ten times better" than the last time.

David's death will be a sad one for BGT judges and viewers, who have become accustomed to seeing him return each year.
