Brian May unveils new Freddie Mercury statue at Queen’s We Will Rock You musical

Brian May on the Queen starting the ‘we will rock you’ song

During We Will Rock You’s 12 year run at the Dominion theatre, a giant gold Freddie Mercury statue adorned the entrance by Tottenham Court Road tube station.

After the show closed in 2014, Queen drummer Roger Taylor saved the monument from being put in storage by placing it in his garden at home in the country.

Now as the cast of the revival gear up for their 12-week run at the London Coliseum this summer, a brand new Freddie statue has been created and transported to the venue of the Queen musical.

Sir Brian May shared the news celebrating the opening of previews for the show ahead of its premiere on Wednesday evening.

The 75-year-old guitarist posted snaps and a video celebrating the unveiling at the start of the run.
