Prior to this, the ‘Bodak Yellow’ hitmaker was called out by a social media troll for not releasing new music and accused of being afraid of disappointing record sales.
AceShowbiz –Cardi B is planning to release her second album sometime in 2023. However, in a new interview, the New York-born raptress admitted that she is still hesitant to drop her new music.
In the Thursday, December 1 episode of “The Breakfast Club”, the “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker confirmed that her new album will be out next year. “Yeah I have no choice. I have to put it out. I have to put it out,” said the mother of two when asked if fans could expect new music in 2023.
However, Cardi admitted that she’s not completely ready to release it. “I have like a couple of songs that are definite. I don’t know, I don’t know what’s going on with me. I need to just make up my mind and put it out… I think I’m too much in my head about it,” the Grammy Award-winning artist told the podcast hosts Charlamagne tha God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy. She then confessed, “I just feel like I’m missing something.”
It’s been nearly five years since Cardi dropped her Grammy-winning debut “Invasion of Privacy”, which spawned hits like “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It”. Charlamagne suggested that she could release the follow-up on the anniversary in April, an idea Cardi seemed to be down with.
“I definitely gotta put it out next year,” Cardi said, explaining that she also plans to drop videos at the same time. “I think I’ll still put it out around that time because it’s not even about putting out an album, it’s like putting [out] visuals.”
Last week, Cardi was called out for not releasing new music. A TikTok user Duprii3 accused her of being afraid of disappointing record sales. Clapping back at the claims, the wife of Offset wrote in a since-deleted tweet, “I’m never afraid of numbers, honey, and I don’t gotta put out another album if I don’t want to. I EAT GOOD OFF MY diamond records alone. Don’t drag other b***hes to make your point, drag the man that’s running their mouth… Grown man!”
