While he admits that he is surprised to get public appreciation from the hip-hop mogul, the 50-year-old record executive says that he ‘definitely [appreciates] it.’

AceShowbiz -Dame Dash is “glad” that Jay-Z has publicly acknowledged his contribution to Roc-A-Fella. Admitting that the emcee’s shout-out to him at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony was “beautiful,” the record executive said he hopes they can squash their beef.

“It was beautiful,” Dame told Page Six, claiming that he’s surprised that the rapper mentioned his name. “I’m glad he said it for the culture. We need to squash everything. So hopefully if that was an extended [olive branch] I’ll spin one back.”

“I have no beef with [him] if [he has] no beef with me,” the 50-year-old entrepreneur further explained. “Let’s get the lawyers out of it then. Let’s talk like men, but I definitely appreciate it.”

In his Saturday, October 30 speech, Jay-Z first said, “We was like we gonna create our own company, you know?” He added, “That’s Hip Hop. And we created this company called Roc-A-Fella Records.”

“Shout out to Dame [Dash]; I know we don’t see eye to eye, but I can never erase your accomplishments, and I appreciate you and thank you for that,” the husband of Beyonce Knowles continued. “And shout out to [Kareem ‘Biggs’ Burke], he’s one of the most honorable people I’ve ever met. We created something that will probably never be duplicated.”

Jay-Z and Dame have been caught in a legal dispute. The first to file a lawsuit was the hip-hop mogul back in June. He accused Dame of attempting to mint and sell his “Reasonable Doubt” album as a non-fungible token (NFT).

Later in July, Dame filed a countersuit in New York’s Manhattan Supreme Court. He alleged that his former colleague illegally transferred the digital rights to his 1996 classic from their shared Roc-A-Fella Records to his own company, S. Carter Enterprises LLC. Dame is now seeking a minimum of $1 million in damages over unjust enrichment, breach of fiduciary duty, replevin and conversion.
