Before his untimely death in 1977, Elvis Presley’s only child Lisa Marie lived with him at Graceland when she wasn’t with her mother Priscilla in Los Angeles. The King’s daughter has previously shared how she was a “terror” when running amock around the Memphis mansion. And now her cousin Danny Smith, who was her playmate at Graceland, has shared a time she threw a tantrum at Elvis when not getting her own way.

Speaking on his Memphis Mafia Kid YouTube channel, Danny was asked if Lisa Marie was ever upset or mad with Elvis.

He remembered: “I know one time. I wouldn’t say mad more than hurt.

“One time we were out at Graceland and, of course, we was doing our normal, just being wild all over.

“And they the grown-ups had got to talking to Elvis about going up in the Lisa Marie and flying around.”

Danny continued: “And Lisa wanted us to go and she wanted us all to go. Of course, it was basically an adult trip, so we wouldn’t go.”

Lisa Marie, who would have been under 9-years-old at the time, started putting her parts on and telling her father: “Daddy, I want to go!”

But defusing the situation, Elvis replied: “Lisa you know you can’t. This is for grown-ups, for the adults. Stay here and y’all play and enjoy your time at Graceland and stuff.”

Her cousin said: “She was real, real mad and throwing stuff and we went and sat on the steps with the mirror going down to the TV Room.”

Danny added: “[She] was crying and upset about that. But after a little while, she got back into her normal self and we had a good time. So I wouldn’t say she was so much as angry as she was probably hurt.”

Appearing on CBS’ The Talk in 2013, Lisa Marie recounted how Elvis was not strict with her at all when she stayed at Graceland.

She said: “He would sleep all day so me and my friends pretty much had the run of Graceland.

“And I knew that nobody was going to tell me what to do because they would get fired. I was, truly a terror to be honest.”

Lisa Marie remembered: “He and I spent a lot of time together upstairs; the upper part of Graceland is basically his room and my room.

“That’s when I got to be with him. He’d set up a little chair in my room and a TV.”

Elvis left Graceland to his daughter and today only she and a few special people are allowed upstairs into his private area.

It’s Lisa Marie’s request that his bedroom and bathroom be preserved just as he left them in 1977.
