Emmerdale is well known for dramatic scenes and a wedding in the Dales is destined to be disastrous.
Over the years viewers have seen everything from shock revelations of terminal illness to an explosive helicopter crash interrupting the happy memories of exchanging nuptials for some of Emmerdale's best loved couples.
But it isn't just on-screen that the romance has been sidelined for something way more serious when the happy couples have been tying the knot.

Stars of the show have also managed to encounter some pretty jaw dropping moments in their real-life weddings as they tried to have the best day of their lives.
Here we take a look at some of the most shocking marriage moments the stars of Emmerdale have had off-screen.
Horror car smash
Liam Fox is best known as Dales mechanic Dan Spencer, finding happiness in tinkering around with cars and their engines on-screen.
But it was a motor vehicle that almost destroyed his big day in real life when his fiance Nicole Barber-Lane – known for her role as Myra McQueen in Hollyoaks – was involved in a car accident.
The pair had "ran off" to Cornwall to tie the knot for a tight budget of just £800 in February 1999, and the incident happened when Nicole went to fetch the flowers with her friend from a nearby florist.
Liam, 44, explained: “She went to pick up her flowers and get ready with her friend then as they were driving back the friend had to slam the brakes on in the car.
“Nicole nearly went through the windscreen. Her head bashed into the glass and embedded the tiara she was wearing into the top of her head.
“It could have been awful. She was lucky to avoid a serious injury. Thankfully she was alright and didn’t have to go to hospital.”
Adding to the drama, Nicole had already found on arrival at the florist t that all her flowers were white – the very colour she had asked them not to use.
To make matters worse the couple found their wedding reception put on hold as they had failed to book anywhere to celebrate and no local venues were open.
Liam added: “Eventually we found a pub in Looe and told them we had just got married. They saved the day and said, ‘You know what, we’ll reopen the kitchen for half an hour and do you steak or burger and chips’.
“It was a real soap-style wedding but we are very happy, so we can look back now and see the funny side."
Wedding intruders
When Vanessa Woodfield star Michelle Hardwick and Emmerdale producer Kate Brooks decided to get hitched they didn't even invite their parents.
However, the two ended up with a couple of unexpected guests all the same at their Las Vegas based nuptials at Elvis Presley's Graceland home.
The pair eloped to the USA in September 2019 to get married in the garden chapel at the legendary Graceland residence in Memphis, Tennessee.
What they didn't count on for their intimate ceremony was the super friendly hotel handyman who invited himself and his mum along.
Michelle explained: “We had just checked in at the hotel in Memphis and we were looking for our rooms. And this guy came up and asked if he could help us.
"He took us to our room and asked us what brought us to Memphis. So we told him we are getting married in a few days.
“He asked where, and when we said Graceland he said, ‘Oh I’ve never been there, I would love to come and watch you get married and I will bring my mum.’ So we said yes and sort of laughed it off, never imagining that he would actually turn up.
“When we arrived at Graceland our lovely wedding co-ordinator told us that two of our friends were there. So we thought someone must have flown over to surprise us. Then she said it’s John and his mum from our hotel.
“It was hilarious – they were there in their jeans, T-shirts and trainers. It adds to the story and the craziness of it all. We even had pictures with them.”
