Gogglebox’s Izzi Warner left ‘devastated’ as she says ‘for everyone wondering’

Gogglebox favourite Izzi Warner expressed some serious distress as she responded to a fan’s story on Instagram who was asking for a reaction from her and her sister Ellie.

Izzi and Ellie Warner, from Leeds, quickly rose to popularity after making their debut together on Channel 4's Gogglebox back in 2015. But their trademark cheerful spirit seemed to have been temporarily crushed with their favourite shop going to administration.

The sisters have kept the nation in hysterics, thanks to their on-screen banter and hilarious opinions on the latest bits of telly. They have noticeably also shared their love of Wilko, a British retail chain which sells homewares and household goods, over the years.

Unfortunately for the iconic duo, Wilko announced on Thursday (3 August), that it plans to appoint administrators, putting about 12,000 jobs at the high street retailer at risk, following “financial difficulties and supply issues for some times."

Naturally, Gogglebox fans were quick to worry about Izzi and Ellie’s feelings regarding the devastating news.

“I need to know their views on Wilko closing down. I just know they’re the only people who will understand my pain,” a fan shared on her Instagram story.

Izzi, the younger sister, did not hesitate to express her anguish and wrote: “For everyone wondering… absolutely devvoed!” along two broken hearts emojis as she reshared the fan’s post on her own Instagram story.

Mark Jackson, the chief executive of Wilko, said in an official statement released on Thursday: “While we can confirm we’ve had a significant level of interest, including indicative offers that we believe would meet all our financial criteria to recapitalise the business, at present, we don’t today have an offer that provides the necessary liquidity in the time we have available, given the mounting cash pressures we’re faced with.

“Unfortunately, with this in mind, today we’re having to take the difficult decision to file a notice of intention to appoint administrators.

“We continue to believe that our robust turnaround plan, with significant re-stabilisation cost savings in progress, will deliver a profitable Wilko and maximise the significant opportunities that we know exist.”

In other Gogglebox news, Izzie welcomed her baby nephew Ezra to the world in June. Ellie had confirmed last March that she is expecting a baby boy with her boyfriend Nat Eddleson.

Ellie used the hitChannel 4programme to tell the world in December that she was pregnant with her first child. In the show, she turned to her sister Izzi and said: “I went for a scan on Saturday. That's the picture.”
