Harry Potter star fumes at being kicked out of first class with ticket ‘torn up’

Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis hit out at Air Canada after he was allegedly kicked out of first class on a recent flight from the US to Canada.

The actor – who played the role of the loveable character Neville Longbottom in the mystical movie franchise – took to social media on Friday evening (August 26) to share his experience with Canada’s biggest airline.

Child star Matthew, 33, was claimed he was booted out of first class just two minutes before he was due to board the plane.

In full view of his 1.4million followers, the star shared his reportedly horrific experience with the customer service team who he alleged “tore up” his ticket at the gate with “no explanation.

In a string or replies to other social media users the actor shared further detail about his interaction as he explained how he was due to fly from Orlando to Toronto with the airline.

But when the Brit got to the first class gate, he claimed the airline representative tore up his ticket and bumped him down to economy due to a “full flight.”

He went on: “Kicking me out of first class to back of plane is what it is but doing it at the gate. Literally tearing my ticket up. No explanation other than ‘full flight’.

“Said if I wanted to sort it I should go to customer service. I asked where that was. ‘Toronto’. I’m in Orlando.

“Honestly never experienced anything like it. I’ve been bumped before. Comes with the territory.

“But at the gate, less than two minutes to boarding and without explanation or apology? Never. They even said if I wanna complain or get a refund I have to reach out to them!”

Matthew went on to complain about his experience with the airline giants to CTV News Toronto in a furious statement where he expressed how the practice of overbooking flights needs to stop.

“Air Canada customer service is s***e and we as a society should not be okay with normalising the profiteering of overbooking flights and kicking people off flights.”

He told the news outlet that he was yet to speak to another Air Canada representative about the infuriating matter.
