Ed Sheeran is among the top 100 richest singers in the world with a net worth of around $200million (£147m).

The Suffolk-born songwriter used to busk and perform in the streets before his epic fortune, thanks to the popularity of his debut album + (Plus) back in 2011.

The album has now been certified platinum seven times in the UK and his succeeding albums x (Times), ÷ (Divide) and = (Equals) have achieved similar success.

He also spent a portion of time sleeping rough while he was travelling the country to perform.

After 31-year-old Sheeran reached chart success, he decided to use his riches on a rather unusual venture.

A reported £3.7million of his money has gone to creating a “mini village” for himself and his wife Cherry Lancaster Seaborn.

The couple were married in 2018 and have been working on the estate in Sheeran’s hometown of Suffolk.

The father-of-one purchased a farmhouse in 2012 for £450,000 and has since expanded his empire to fit a nearby bungalow, costing £525,000, two houses worth £925,000 and £875,000, along with a hall worth £895,000.

The estate is full with amenities such as a personal gym and even a working pub.

Sheeran also remains close to his countryside roots with a wildlife garden and a cherry orchard, a sweet sentiment to his wife of four years.

Ed is also a self declared animal lover and made sure not to leave his four-legged friends out of the estate.

He has two sheep, two goats and a chicken coop on site.

The list carries on as the singer left no stone unturned when it comes to comfort.

He also has a cinema, underground music room, a greenhouse and a paddock.

Ed also has a secret tunnel that connects his house with the on-site pub named the Lancaster Lock, a dedication to the mother of his child.

The star appeared on Fleur East’s breakfast show on The Hits Radio and addressed the ginormous grounds, nicknamed Sheeranville.

He said: “Did you know, the craziest [planning dispute] for me is the lake that I dug? Well, it's essentially a pond that's grey filled with tadpoles and swamp stuff. It's not a swimming pool, it's a lake.

“They make it look blue online but it does not look like that at all. There's no filter system, it's naturally cleaned itself with the plants that are in it."

"There's a big thing about wildlife and newts," clarified the star.

The nature lover went on to show his appreciation for the local wildlife by emphasising that he had planted 14,000 trees and that there is “way more wildlife there now”.

When questioned about the controversy surrounding the size of his estate, Sheeran said: “I just think people need to mind their business.”
