Inside GMB Ranvir Singh’s life – body transformation, luxury home and sad split

Good Morning Britain star Ranvir Singh has been lauded for her news presenting skills since she first became a broadcast journalist.

From her tact and ability to respond quickly to the developing story of the 2017 Westminster attack to her impressive dancing skills on Strictly Come Dancing, she’s been a much-loved figure since making her BBC Radio Lancashire debut in 2002.

Born in Preston in 1977 to a Sikh family, Ranvir was educated at Kirkham Grammar School and gained her degree in English and Philosophy from Lancaster University.

She later pursued a postgraduate degree from the University of Central Lancashire in Preston, graduating with a qualification in journalism.

Ranvir’s personal life is just as decorated as her working one – from her jaw-dropping weight loss in 2020 to her gorgeous home, she’s definitely rocking it despite her split from ex Ranjeet.

Though she’s notoriously private about her personal life, Ranvir does share some updates with fans on-air and on her social media pages – and we delve into her life away from the cameras.

Luxury home

As one of ITV’s "highest paid stars", it makes sense that Ranvir would have a luxurious home to match her reputation.

With a staggering net worth of £1.1million, according to wealth website Celeb Net Worth, Ranvir’s north-west London home, which she shares with her nine-year-old son Tushaan, is definitely it.

Her Chiltern house is super cosy, featuring a kitchen with a huge sink, grey blinds and a vase filled with beautiful flowers.

Ranvir’s fridge is constantly decorated with pictures painted by her son, and, being a keen Liverpool FC supporter, she tends to sip from her Reds mug during her down-time.

Ranvir’s always had a passion for fashion – and a huge wardrobe to match, stuffed full of gorgeous dresses and heels.

Her gorgeous house also includes a luxurious cream leather sofa, on which her pet cockapoo Shmizzels takes pride of place.

Strictly success

Though she didn’t quite manage to make it through to the final, Ranvir and her dance partner Giovanni Pernice got through to the semis in 2020’s Strictly Come Dancing.

They were eliminated in week eight as they performed a Jive – but had the highest scoring dance in week three with the Foxtrot.

And at one point it looked like she could be succumbing to the Strictly ‘Curse’ – the notion that steam begins to build between contestants and their professional counterparts – as things seemed to heat up in the romance department with Giovanni.

But the star himself confirmed in February 2021 that the pair are "just very, very good friends."

Before her appearance on the dancing show, Ranvir told OK!: "If I got hit by the curse, it would be a bloody miracle! Oh my God, that would be hilarious.

"Do you know most of the dancers were born in 1990 or something?

"I’m old enough to be their mother!

"It’s very optimistic and complimentary that anyone would think I would be struck by the curse."

Sad split

Ranvir was previously married to Ranjeet Singh Dehal, with whom she had her son Tushaan in 2012.

She shocked GMB viewers in April 2019 by hinting that she and Ranjeet had split when she found something incriminating on his phone.

She was chatting to co-host Ben Shephard during a debate about whether you should check your partner’s phone in a relationship, and admitted: "I have looked at it, once."

Ben asked: “Is that why you are no longer together?"

Ranvir didn’t seem keen to answer, continuing: "I can’t answer that question but I have always thought that if you ever feel you need to do that then the relationship is over because you obviously don’t trust that person.

"Should we end that conversation there?"

But she later confessed: "I found something that needed addressing."

"So I would say you think you don’t need to do it until you do."

The presenter confirmed she was single during her Strictly stint, despite rumours she was stoking the flames with Giovanni.

Body transformation

Ranvir dropped an impressive two dress sizes and a staggering two stone in weight during her Strictly stint.

She said in September last year that she’d gained a stone in lockdown, and was hoping her new exercise regime would help her shed some of the pounds.

Speaking on-air to co-star Susanna Reid and former GMB presenter Piers Morgan, Ranvir said in October: "To tell you the truth, I weighed myself this morning, and I have lost half a stone!"

A month later, she had dropped two dress sizes.

She said on the morning programme: "I’ve just realised I’ve dropped two dress sizes in five weeks", elaborating that it had given her body image a "massive boost".

Tragic loss

Ranvir was just nine years old when her father died.

She shared a touching photo of her dad, who looked very smart in a shirt, tie and turban, on Instagram, writing: “Life takes a completely different turn when you lose a parent at a young age.

"I was 9. He was 42. Sending kind thoughts to anyone still grieving on #fathersday xx."

Her fans were thankfully on hand to provide some emotional support, with one writing on the social media tribute: "Beautiful tribute… he would be so proud."

Another posted: "I’m sure he’s proud of your achievements so far in your life."

"It’s a pain like no other," someone else confided.

A fourth said: "We're always thinking of you Ranvir."

GMB airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
