Jack Fincham criticised by fans after showing dog’s ‘disgusting’ clipped ears

Love Island champ Jack Fincham has faced online criticism after uploading a snap of his dog who has clipped ears.

The reality star shared a selfie alongside his pooch, Elvis, as they went about their day on a train while Jack flashed his pearly whites towards the camera.

Despite many praising Jack and gushing over his four-legged pal who some say resembled an old man, many were keen to share their horror after noticing Elvis' ears had in fact been clipped.

In the UK, the practice of clipping dogs ears is illegal and is considered as animal cruelty, despite the practice being allowed in some parts of Europe.

Captioning his post, Jack, 29 said: "Me and my best pal rolling on the train solo. Always by my side dunno what I'd do without you."

His post which has raked in almost 25,000 comments at the time of publication saw many mixed comments.

One shocked follower penned: "Will be unfollowing. Dog ears are cropped… it's illegal in the UK. Dogs are getting imported like this. Sad as."

While a second went on to say: "Wish people would stop cropping innocent dogs ears."

"Another so-called dog lover with a dog with clipped ears disgusting," added a third.

Before a fourth commented: "Cropped ears. So cruel. Let's hack off a bit of your ears eh."

Another said: "The fact you own animal with cropped ears is disgusting you should be ashamed of yourself! It's abuse," to which Jack replied with an eye-roll emoji.

Clipping is often associated with the same breed as Elvis, Cane Corso, an Italian breed of a mastiff.

The British Veterinary Association states that clipping should be banned for all dogs, unless it is carried out by a trained vet – purely for medical purposes, such as an injury.

In January, the RSPCA revealed that they have seen a spike in clipped dogs ears which is a result of social media snaps making the look more popular.

While a spokesperson for PETA told the MailOnline: "While it is the breeder who was likely responsible – not Jack – PETA urges him to use his huge social media platform to speak out against this cruel practice…

"[Jack should] let his fans know he does not endorse ear-cropping, a painful mutilation that involves cutting off the majority of a dog's enervated, extremely sensitive ear and taping the remnants into an unnatural shape for aesthetic reasons."

The former pen salesman revealed in July 2020 that Elvis had been imported from Russia by Protection Dogs WorldWide.

One fan penned: "Because he has a big social media presence, he's promoting and encouraging this as 'the normal', it's not! It's animal cruelty."

Another went on to say: "

Jack hit back, commenting: "Bore off. That dog is my life."

Daily Star has approached Jack Fincham's representatives for comment.
