Jeremy Clarkson says he accidentally bought pub as he enjoys variety in life

Jeremy Clarkson has admitted that he "accidentally" bought a pub.

The 62-year-old Top Gear legend made his name on TV but has branched out into farming in recent years.

And, explaining that he is a fan of "variety", it seems being a pub-owner is one of his next ventures.

Asked if he now prefers farming, the presenter told the Daily Star and other press: "No, no, I like variety!

"I was doing cows at six this morning and now I'm here, so it's lovely to have variety for the day."

He went on: "And apparently I've accidentally bought a pub I've got to go look at in a minute because I've bought a brewery.

"Anyway it's nice to have lots of different things to do in the day, so I do enjoy that."

Jeremy is well known for motoring show Top Gear but now stars on The Grand Tour.

A few years ago he branched out when he decided to try working the land, having bought Diddly Squat Farm in 2008.

His efforts to master farming have been documented in the series Clarkson's Farm, which has gone down a storm with viewers.

But the star's agriculture mission hasn't been without a few bumps in the road.

Speaking on Jonathan Ross's show last year, Jeremy shared that he narrowly avoided a serious injury in one incident.

He said: "I got this thing called a telehandler, it's like a JCB thing. I thought, 'I will just use its front to push the post in.' I actually got Kaleb [farmer Kaleb Cooper] to go in and it got halfway into the ground and the fence was leaning on it and it flicked back.

"How it didn’t take my leg off… I didn't walk properly for a week.

"This was a quarter of a tonne of fence post."
