Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp made waves in the music industry in 2015 when he started a band alongside Cooper. The actor plays guitar alongside the legendary rocker in the band Hollywood Vampires. They, along with guitarist and Aerosmith star Joe Perry, started the supergroup in 2015 and subsequently released two albums. Their eponymous first album, and their 2019 follow-up, Rise.
Cooper recently spoke out about working with Depp in the band.
He said: “Johnny Depp was a guitar player long before he was an actor.
“I can yell out [The Rolling Stones’] Brown Sugar, and he knows it and plays it dead on.
“He is a very well-rounded guitar player. He can play lead right up there with Joe Perry.”
Cooper went on to add that he didn’t bring Depp into the band to for some celebrity clout.
He said: “People think he’s only there to be eye candy for the girls.
“But Johnny is as good a guitar player as anyone I’ve ever had in my bands. The Vampires is an awfully good band.”
He also spoke highly of the third member of the band, Perry.

Cooper said: “Joe is one of those guys who is in his own world. Most lead guitar players that I know are in their own worlds.”
He added: “Despite this being a band of alpha males who are used to calling the shots, from the first rehearsal to this point there has never been one single argument.
“No-one has butted heads on anything. We try things and all of us instinctively know whether or not it works… Nobody ever pulls a hissy fit to get their own way. Johnny and Joe share leads and nobody ever argues.”
Last year Cooper spoke candidly about the claims put against Depp by his ex-wife, Amber Heard.

Depp fought accusations he was “wife-beater” in a legal battle over the past year.
The allegations were originally brought up by a British publication, who was later backed up by Heard who testified against Depp.
The actor eventually lost the libel claim and was later denied an appeal to the verdict.
Cooper said Depp is “one of the nicest people you will ever meet”.
Cooper said of the legal battle: “It’s gotta all get aired out.
“And we were around for all of that. We were on the road for most of that stuff.
“I can only tell you this, he is the least violent person on the planet.”
