Kate Bush fans furious at Rita Ora’s cover of hit song Running Up That Hill

Rita Ora has done a cover of Kate Bush’s hit song, Running Up That Hill, and it hasn’t gone down well with Kate’s fans.

Kate’s, 64, 80s track stormed back up the charts to number one recently after the song played a massive role in season four of Netflix’s Stranger Things.

The Voice UK judge, 31, has since remixed the single, which took 36 years to reach number one, with fans sharing their reaction to her rendition on social media.

Rita daringly adapted the song, adding her own little personal spin as she changed the track’s melody and pace.

In a clip shared on Twitter by BCharts, the singer can be heard singing the chorus and one fan wrote: “That’s dreadful. Just because lots of notes exist, it doesn’t mean you need to try and include them all in every song. You certainly don’t need to try it if you’re as bad as this.”

Another critic tweeted: “I hate that style where they wobble about as if trying to find the right note. It’s like listening to someone trying to tune a radio.”

A third added: “There was a death this week. Rita Ora BUTCHERED this song. Beyond terrible.”

A fourth hilariously commented: "If I could make a deal with God, I’d get him to ban Rita Ora from touching Running Up That Hill.”

Kate’s track Running Up That Hill was named the UK’s summer song 40 years after its initial release.

The Guinness World Records has confirmed the resurgence set a new record for the longest time for a track to reach number one on the UK’s Official Singles Chart and the longest gap between number ones.

At 64, Bush is the oldest female artist to reach the chart peak in the UK.

The English singer said: “It’s just extraordinary. I mean, you know, it’s such a great series [Stranger Things], I thought that the track would get some attention.”

She added it was “really wonderful” that so many young people were “hearing the song for the first time” and confessed that she was loving being discovered again.
