Katie Price is gearing up to take Carl Woods' last name after he got down on one knee to ask for her hand in marriage.

The reality star pair recently announced that they were engaged, with Katie flashing a huge diamond on Instagram to confirm she'd said "yes".

Carl, 31, and Katie, 42, began dating in July last year and their relationship has certainly been in the fast lane ever since.

Having moved in together, and beginning renovations on their forever home, Katie is confident that she's ready to finally accept Carl's last name.

Although to some the gesture may seem like an obvious one, it'll be the first time Katie has legally taken on someones else's name, in spite of being married three times previously.

Showing a different degree of trust and respect for Carl, the mum-of-five has pledged that her name will change via the formal and appropriate channels.

When asked in an interview with the Mirror if she would alter her name, the My Crazy Life star said: "Yes. I have never changed my surname for anyone – but I'm going to change it legally and be known as Katie Woods.

"I’m proud of it. It's going to be a new me and a new era."

The former glamour model truly believes that things are different this time and it would seem her family also approve her soon-to-be husband.

Before Carl had arranged the proposal he decided to speak to a number of members of Katie's family to ensure everyone was happy with the arrangement.

Now that son Junior is in his teens and sceptical of his mum moving on, Carl approached him first for his consent.

According to Carl, it was no walk in the park either.

He said: "Junior gave me a talking to, like he was my dad! He was asking me if I was sure. He gave me all the pros and cons about his mum, which was nothing I didn’t know, and said, 'If you're happy, then I'm happy because I want you to be part of our family.'"

The businessman wanted to ensure his proposal was traditional and later skipped off to Katie's mum and dad's.

Carl explained that Katie's mum and dad were keen and "100%" on-board.
