Lizzo, Taylor Swift and Eurovisions Måneskin lead best dressed at MTV VMAs 2022

A series of famous celebrity names, including Lizzo and Eurovision's Måneskin, demanded attention ahead of this year's MTV's Video Music Awards.

The 38th edition of the awards show took place on Sunday (August 28) from the Prudential Center in New Jersey, USA.

A star-studded bevvy of performers are also set to take centre stage with glitzy performances from the likes of Lizzo, Nicki Minaj and Anitta.

The extraordinary event's red carpet showdown has brought us some iconic looks throughout the years, including Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake's double-denim 90s serve and Lady Gaga's notorious meat dress.

Therefore, expectations are high for this year's attention-grabbing runway which centred around a 'black carpet' theme.

Here are some of the most iconic looks from the evening:

Lizzo

Lizzo looked absolutely magical as she strutted down the red carpet wearing a magnificent blue-black Jean Paul Gaultier gown.

The About Damn Time singer, who is nominated in several categories, including artist of the year and best pop video, stunned in the voluminous gown, which she wore with black lipstick and slicked back tresses for a dramatic entrance

Lizzo added a lip ring and statement earrings for sparkle.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift made a stunning appearance at this year's show, surprising her fans in an incredible dress.

The award-winning singer looked amazing in a sparkly short mesh-like dress paired with her bold red lipstick and was compared to a "real-life mirrorball".

Taylor is up for five awards at the annual event and dazzled in a jewelled Oscar de la Renta cutout dress.

Måneskin

Italian glam rock band Måneskin who won Eurovision in 2021, looked like Superheroes as they made their way down the red carpet.

The I Wanna Be Your Slave singers made up of Ethan Torchio, Victoria De Angelis, Damiano David and Thomas Raggi brought their gender-fluid style to the black carpet, featuring heart-shaped nipple covers, torso-baring sparkling capes and sheer corsets.

Lil Nas X

Lil Nas X had stolen the show at this year's epic spectacle.

The Industry Baby rapper, who is nominated for seven awards, walked the red carpet in a dramatic black ensemble designed by Harris Reed.

Lil Nas X showed off his toned figure when he arrived shirtless while wearing a feather headpiece and structured feather skirt, with leather pants underneath.

BLACKPINK

One of the world's biggest bands, K-Pop group BLACKPINK featuring Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo and Rosé, made their MTV Video Music Awards debut.

The gorgeous ladies, known for their distinctive, edgy styles, wowed as they wore a selection of matching black ensembles.

Lisa wore a two-piece set complete with cape pants and sandals, while, Jisoo wore a floral maxi dress with lace details.

Jennie wore a pleated low-rise skirt and strappy crop top, and Rosé rounded out the foursome, sporting a timeless long-sleeve mini dress.
