The latest series of Love Island has kicked off in full swing – with contestants already embroiled in love triangles after week one.
But despite the dramatic scenes to have descended from the show, viewer ratings still plummeted.
It comes after only 1.3million viewers tuned into the first episode, which makes it 1m less compared to this time last year.

And even though the show has sent Twitter into a frenzy with hilarious fan commentary, ratings have continued to drop.
So, with the help of Betfair, we're taking a look at exactly why people are switching off.
Fame hungry cast
Love Island fans have revealed they have stopped watching the show because of fame-hungry cast.
According to Betfair, 70% said they haven't been watching, whilst 39% said it's because they believe the Islanders just want fame.
Islanders have previously admitted they applied to gain further traction on their social media.
Ekin-Su, who featured in the last series, became the first contestant to secure 1m Instagram followers while in the villa.
However, bosses have since changed the format and have enforced a social media ban on contestants' families.
The new rule means loved ones can no longer take over their social media whilst they are in the villa.
This has reportedly resulted in a drop in applications.
Too scripted
Love Island fans have suggested that the show is too scripted – despite plenty of islanders denying this – which has caused them to question its authenticity.
Some 28% of viewers said they have become fed-up with generalised lines.
It comes after former contestant Jay Younger revealed: “There are certain things in there that are scripted."
He told The Big Jim Show podcast: "We’ve been told our lines, so I’m going to say, ‘Sorry I’m late to the party.'"
Jay said he found it strange when the women were urged to talk to him as a bombshell.
"I wasn’t expecting a voice to tell girls to come speak to me," he continued.
Burnout
According to the figures, 36% of fans have admitted they no longer find the show interesting, as others confessed to feeling burnout from the show.
Some 18% admitted that two series of Love Island a year was simply too much, while the same amount said it was difficult to keep up with every night.
Some fans suggested Love Island Winter should be axed.
In the latest winter series, viewers begged producers to stop airing "boring" scenes as the show focused on Ron, Lana and Casey.
One viewer said: "Please can you stop showing us Ron and Lana. It’s boring and they’re ridiculous people."
Another tweeted: "PLEASE CAN WE STOP WATCHING LANA & RON DRAMA FOR THE 50/11th TIME."
Similarly with this series, fans have been complaining that Molly Marsh has featured too heavily.
Love Island airs nightly at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
