Maura Higgins takes swipe at Dancing On Ice 2021 judges

Love Island babe Maura Higgins has taken to social media to take a catty swipe at the Dancing On Ice judges.

The starlet appeared on the hit ITV show in 2019 and was paired with professional skater Alexader Demetriou.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday night as the Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield hosted show returned after a week break, Maura, 30, moaned the scoring was too high.

In a swipe at the judging panel which consists of skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean as well as John Barrowman and Ashley Banjo, the starlet tweeted: "The basic skating will will get you a 9.5 this year."

Maura's post was quickly met with a flurry of replies from fans – with many of them agreeing with her claim.

One supporter wrote: "Sadly that’s because of all partnerships we’ve lost because of Covid and injuries it's shortened as well!

"Your show last year was in a different league. We miss you this year Maura."

Another added: "The scoring is bizarre! I think they’re scoring based on the personality they like rather than the skating! It’s been awful this year."

A third chimed in: "It's a poor show this year, lacking in skating, personalities and totally over the top scoring.. not a patch on previous year."

This year's series of Dancing On Ice has been plagued with problems.

There have been so many celebrity drop-outs due to injury that ITV bosses have taken the hard decision to wrap up the show a week early.

Last month Holly and Phil even joked live on air they may have to put on their skating boots if any more celebs call it quits.

Like what you see? Then fill your boots…

Denise Van Outen was the first star to bow out after she shattered her shoulder while in rehearsals.

Her skating partner Matt Evers was set to continue simply in the group dances, however, he is now paired with Coronation Street actress Faye Brooks after he own partner Hamish had to quit.

The skater suffered an injury to his finger and ripped a tendon while off the ice.

Meanwhile, Rufus Hound and Billie Shepherd were also forced to quit the series earlier this year.

Most recently Aussie legend Jason Donovan had told by doctors to drop out after injuring his back.

Speaking via Facebook, Jason said: "I am devastated to announce that due to this ongoing back issue that occurred on Dancing on Ice about 10 days ago, and at the advice of my medical team in the show, that unfortunately I can't continue in the competition and therefore have to withdraw.

"We put so much work into getting to this point but I have to respect my health and I have to respect my body moving forward."
