Meghan Markle wanted title and fame before US return, claims royal biographer

Meghan Markle’s hopes of turning the Royal Family into a "Hollywood celebrity game" were dashed after claiming the royal title, author Tom Bower has claimed.

The royal biographer said he believed the former TV star struggled to accept the realities of royal life when she married Prince Harry, and became upset when she was denied her time in the spotlight.

Speaking on Sunrise, Mr Bower said: “She voluntarily came to England and married into the Royal Family and she must have known what that required.

Markle and Engelson began dating in 2004 and wed nearly seven years later in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, in 2011. They quietly divorced just two years later.

Bower added: "Meghan is a schemer, you never know – really – looking at Meghan unless you’re really far inside her mind, what she really thinks, what she really wants.

"That’s the story across America and Britain, people perplexed about a woman who really has betrayed them, dumped them and that’s what many of them obviously think she’ll do to Harry."
