Mel B makes dig at Tory MP Conor Burns as hes sacked over serious misconduct

Melanie Brown MBE has made a subtle dig at Conservative MP Conor Burns who recently revealed he'd been stripped of his job in the government.

The Spice Girls icon took to social media to respond to Burns' tweets after he announced he'd had the whip removed and faced claims of "serious misconduct".

It comes just a week after the Conservatives flocked to Birmingham to attend the annual party conference, which Melanie, 47, had also attended.

Sources claim that a third party had filed a complaint about Connor's behaviour at the event which saw Liz Truss deliver a car crash speech to the party.

Melanie had attended the event as the For Once In My Life hitmaker demanded that there should be specialist support for victims of domestic abuse – an issue she is extremely passionate about.

Taking to Twitter in view of his 27.6k followers, Connor said: "Earlier I received a call from the Chief Whip Wendy Morton. Ms Morton informed me that a complaint had been received about me and she had passed it to Conservative Campaign Headquarters to investigate. I was not given any information about the complaint nor was I asked to provide any information.

"On the basis of this complaint Ms Morton told me that the Whip was being withdrawn and that I was standing down as Trade Minister. I will fully cooperate with the Party's enquiry and look forward to clearing my name.

"I hope the party will be as quick to conduct their enquiry as they were to rush to judgement."

Shortly after spotting Conor's tweet, Melanie responded: "Really?? Your shocked about this complaint??? Let me remind you what you said me in lift… [sic]"

Confirming the news, a spokesperson for the Whips Office said: "We have suspended the Whip pending an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behaviour earlier this week.

"We take all such allegations extremely seriously. The Prime Minister has been clear that the highest standards in public life must be upheld."

Meanwhile, in a statement, Number 10 said: "Following a complaint of serious misconduct, the Prime Minister has asked Conor Burns MP to leave the government with immediate effect.

"The Prime Minister took direct action on being informed of this allegation and is clear that all ministers should maintain the high standards of behaviour – as the public rightly expects."

During her speech at the conference, Melanie had called Brits to "reform everything as she called for women to have safe spaces to escape abusers.
