Michelle Keegan speechless as supermarket refuses to serve her £7 bottle of wine

Former Coronation Street beauty Michelle Keegan was left "buzzing" but appeared to feel devastated when she was banned from buying a £7 bottle of booze in Sainsbury's.

Michelle, 34, was turned away from buying a bottle of 19 Crimes red wine because she left her ID at home, and was presumed to be younger than her actual age.

Taking to Instagram to vent to her fans and followers, she explained that she was "buzzing" that she had been asked to show ID, but devastated because she really wanted a bottle of wine.

Taking to Instagram to spill the news to her fans, she posted a snap of the bottle of red left on the counter in the supermarket.

The red wine in question was 19 Crimes, which is an Australian Red Wine and retails at £7 in Sainsbury's.

Alongside the snap posted online, she wrote: "Just been refused to buy alcohol because I didn't have my ID on me."

"Part of me is absolutely buzzing by this but the other part of me really wants that bottle," she penned alongside her post.

She also inserted the track Goodbye My Lover by James Blunt, which made for a hilarious accompaniment.

Michelle was buzzing that she was presumed to be under 25, as the store she shopped in appeared to be following the Challenge 25 policy.

The Challenge 25 policy means that if the shop assistant believes the shopper to be under 25, they can ask for ID before allowing them to purchase items like cigarettes, tobacco, or alcohol.

A lot of people find the policy strange because it is in fact seven years above the legal drinking age.

Michelle is a lover of wine and even gave up on Dry January eight days in back at the start of the year.

After eight days of going sober in January 2021, she posted a hilarious image of Jennifer Aniston's Friends character, Rachel Green, emptying a bottle of wine into a glass, captioning the post: "Me… 8 days into 'Dry January'."
