Love Island power couple Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury have recently surprised their loyal social media followers by announcing that Molly is pregnant with their first child.

The pair made the pregnancy announcement in a short but sweet Instagram video, which took a look back at where their relationship first started and was followed by a clip of Molly's baby bump.

The loved-up couple found love on the popular ITV show and came in second place as Amber Rose Gill and Greg O'Shea won the series.

Since their time in the Love Island villa, Molly and Tommy's careers have skyrocketed, with Molly becoming Creative Director of Pretty Little Thing and Tommy's journey as a professional boxer going from strength to strength.

But how did Molly's career in the fashion industry begin as she has become the most successful Love Island contestant in history?

Molly-Mae's life before Love Island

Before Molly-Mae rose to fame in the Love Island villa, she had a range of jobs as she tried to make it as a social media influencer.

When she was a teenager, she had a successful beauty pageant career, with titles including Miss Teen Hertfordshire and World Teen Supermodel UK, which she received when she was only 16 years old.

When Molly was not walking on a pageant runway, she had part time jobs in the likes of Boots and as a lifeguard alongside her sister Zoe Hague.

The former Love Island contestant decided to risk it all when she turned 18 by moving to Manchester to pursue a career as an influencer.

Once the then-19-year-old left the Love Island villa, she revealed to The Sun: “This time last year, I was living by myself in a flat in Manchester, I had literally no one around me, I was really just trying to create this social media career for myself.”

Love Island fame

Molly's bombshell entrance into the Love Island villa was one for the history books.

Although she was initially interested in soon-to-be boyfriend Tommy, she also had eyes for Curtis Pritchard on the show, who was coupled up with Amy Hart at the time and soon became Maura Higgins' boyfriend following the show's finale.

However, fireworks soon sparked between Molly and Tommy, and the love birds have become the most successful cast members to date, with the couple still going strong three years later.

Influencer turned businesswoman

Following the show's finale where Molly and Tommy came in second place, the influencer landed multiple brand deals with the likes of BeautyWorks and Pretty Little Thing.

Molly has previously spoken about how eager brands were to work with her following her Love Island stint, stating that she had turned down a £2m brand deal from an unnamed company because it didn’t fit well with her brand.

Once she left the Love Island villa, Molly signed an initial £500,000 deal with Pretty Little Thing and she has gone on to release multiple collections with the fast-fashion retailer which have all sold out in a matter of minutes.

Aside from her multiple brand deals, Molly also started her own brand following her success on the ITV show.

She launched Filter by Molly Mae, which is now the UK's leading self-tan brand, in 2019 and the brand has expanded overtime with various self-tanning mousses and accessories.

She has also recently released her first biography, Becoming Molly-Mae, which gives insight into how she found fame on TV and online.

Becoming Creative Director of Pretty Little Thing

Following the influencer's success as brand ambassador for Pretty Little Thing, Molly bagged herself a seven-figure deal with the fashion chain as she signed a Creative Director contract.

She announced the news in an Instagram post, which read: "I’m beyond ecstatic to announce that I am the new CREATIVE DIRECTOR of prettylittlething for UK/EU.

"This is the biggest move in my career so far and I can’t explain my gratitude to my favourite brand in the world for trusting me with this role. PLT have had faith in me from the VERY start and to now be a Director within the business feels like a complete dream come true. I hope you’re all ready for my visions to come to life within this incredible brand…"

Since her time as Creative Director, Molly has gone on to host her own fashion show and signed off multiple collections with the brand.

Backlash during her success

Backlash often comes with the price of fame and Molly has fallen victim to social media trolls multiple times over the years.

During a romantic trip to Venice with boyfriend Tommy, Molly stated on her Instagram story that she had not had the greatest experience with food in the Italian city.

In the post, she criticised the Italian food, describing it as “grim” and “actually shocking”.

As reported by the Metro, she wrote: “It’s meant to be the home of pizza and pasta and I really can’t see how! Strange. Even this ice cream was grim.”

Backlash against the star came in thick and fast, with Molly later apologising for the comments.

Molly found herself under the spotlight once again earlier this year following an appearance on Steven Bartlett's podcast, The Diary of a CEO.

During the interview, Molly spoke about her successful career, stating: “If you want something enough, you can achieve it.”

She continued: "Beyonce has the same 24 hours in a day that we do. "You're given one life and it's up to you what you do with it."

The comments notably angered Molly-Mae's followers on social media, with some pointing out that not everyone has the same 24 hours as celebrities.

The clip of the interview was then shared on Twitter by @tsrbys with the caption "If you're homeless just buy a house," gaining thousands of likes and responses.

Following the backlash, Molly took to her social media to release a statement.

She said: “When I say or post anything online, it is never with malice or ill intent. I completely appreciate that things can affect different people in different ways.

“However, I just want to stress that I would never intend to hurt or upset anyone by anything I say or do.”

She went on to “apologise to the people that have been affected negatively or misunderstood the meaning” of what she said during the podcast, saying, “the intentions of the podcast were only ever to tell my story and inspire from my own experience.”

What is Molly-Mae's net worth?

The former Love Island star has been named as the richest contestant to ever emerge from the ITV2 dating show.

Molly is said to be worth a whopping £6million after establishing herself as one of the biggest influencers and businesswomen in the UK.

She has recently moved into her dream home with Tommy in Cheshire which is said to be worth a staggering £4m.
