Oti Mabuse lifts lid on horror racism shes suffered since starring on Strictly

Strictly star Oti Mabuse has been hit by racist abuse.

The dancer is being targeted with taunts from vile trolls on the net.

She said: “To get tweeted or receive a message in my inbox being racially abusive, or fat-shaming me, is horrible.

“But it’s written by a person who can’t even face themselves in the mirror.

“The hard stuff that I’ve been through, with the racism and discrimination, is proof that people still have a lot to learn.”

Oti is refusing to let the abuse affect her TV career.

The 31-year-old has vowed to stay in the public eye in a bid to inspire others suffering from hate.

Speaking in the new issue of Radio Times, she said: “The more hate I receive, the more of a reason it is to carry on doing my job.

“I have to show young girls that anything is possible. I have to fight, and be strong.”

Oti has been secretly dealing with the racist abuse for years behind closed doors.

She added: “I’ve never really spoken about it because I’ve tried for so long to think about it this way.

I work on a show that ten million people love… if 10 or 100 people aren’t nice to me, that is not representative of everyone else’s view.

“It’s taken years for me to get that into my head.”

Oti has become one of the biggest stars on the box in recent months.

As well as being a firm favourite with Strictly fans, she is also a judge on Dancing on Ice and The Masked Dancer.

Oti has impressed viewers with her stint as a judge on both ITV talent shows.

The star also hosts a BBC podcast and is due to front new dating show Romeo & Duet.
