Amanda Owen confirmed she has split up from her “grumpy” husband Clive, after revealing she is lonely up in the Yorkshire Dales.
The Shepherdess shocked viewers earlier this month when she announced they were going their separate ways, but her latest book – Celebrating The Seasons With The Yorkshire Shepherdess – hints at clues over her unhappiness, despite the warm vibes emanating from their Channel 5 hit documentary series Our Yorkshire Farm.
It was when she was away promoting her latest tome – her fifth – that rumours began circulating of their marital problems and Amanda does not hold back in the book, where she doesn’t exactly paint Clive in the best of lights.

The 47-year-old mother-of-nine admitted that Clive, 67, gets angry at her driving skills, reveals he pours disdain on her “frivolous hobby’ of keeping horses, while she lets it be known that he called her a “daft bat” for wanting to get fit again.
She wanted to shed her baby weight, which was only natural after giving birth to almost a football team over the past 20 years and she said in the publication: “In 2019 I decided as I’d been pregnant and/or breastfeeding for the last 20 years, it was time to start a tougher fitness regime. ‘Yer a daft bat, thee!’ he said, shaking his head.”
And there was the time they competed in an obstacle race together, with Clive falling flat on his face and launching both barrels at Amanda.
“I didn’t know whether to feel elated from the run, dejected by Clive’s comments, or laugh at how funny it was,” she said in the book.
She describes in detail the huge list of responsibilities she has in the running of Ravenseat Farm, while how she caters for nine children, with very little help from Clive.
Clive’s not mentioned when it comes to cooking or shopping, but more tellingly, there is only one small picture of him in the book among the many included.

And then she mentions her loneliness despite being surrounded by her children.
Perhaps these were tell-tale signs that all was not as rosey as it looked up in Swaledale
In a joint Instagram statement earlier this month, the couple said: “Clive and I are sad to confirm that we have made the difficult decision to separate.
“This hasn’t been easy, but we both believe it’s the right choice for the future of our family.”
