Legendary actor Dean Stockwell has died at the age of 85, reports have said.
The Hollywood star was famed for his role as Admiral Al Calavicci on the sci-fi show Quantum Leap between 1989 and 1993.
He was also known for his role as Brother Cavil in the revived series of Battlestar Galactica between 2004 and 2009.
The actor passed away from natural causes on Sunday morning (November 7), according to TMZ.
Famous figures in the industry have paid their respects to Stockwell, as well as fans of the actor.
Filmmaker Bilge Ebiri wrote: "RIP Dean Stockwell, a great actor who never met a scene he couldn’t steal."
One fan wrote: "Growing up I used to catch afternoon re-runs of Quantum Leap after school. I loved everything about that show, the storylines and Al – Sam's lone tether to the life he can't get back to. Dean Stockwell is engrained into my earliest tv/movie affinity. RIP"
A second said: "Rest in peace, Dean Stockwell. THE DUNWICH HORROR, PARIS, TEXAS, THE LAST MOVIE, DUNE, MARRIED TO THE MOB, TO LIVE AND DIE IN LA… Just a litany of great films."
A third commented: "I think Dean Stockwell was probably the first actor I ever loved, he was just so goddamned suave on Quantum Leap.
"Then you get older and see him pop up all over and realize he was actually one of the greatest character actors of all time. What a legacy! RIP."
