Rapper Plan B looks totally different more than a decade on from smash hit album

Rapper Plan B has undergone a major image overhaul in the eleven years since The Defamation of Strickland Banks hit shelves.

The album, released in 2010, was a major hit for the rising star, and saw him become one of the hottest names in British music at the time.

But the musician – real name Ben Drew – has made some tweaks to his appearance since that ooze a more sophisticated vibe.

Now 37, Plan B is slimmer, smarter dressed and wearing his hair in a more classic, tidy crop.

In 2017, he gave an unfiltered assessment of his old get-up, referencing the 2011 Ivor Novello Awards at which he won top honours.

"You see pictures of me at the Ivor Novello awards, I mean, f***ing hell, I looked ill," he told The Guardian.

"I was so overweight, and to deal with the workload, I was getting through a bottle of JD a night.

"Then you fancy a bag of crisps, or a bit of ice cream – and it wasn't a problem before, but it is now, because of all the calories you're putting in yourself with the drink."

During the tour for his latest album, 2018's Heaven Before All Hell Breaks Loose, he performed in a chic grey suit, an eccentric layer of face paint about his chin.

Back in 2010, he had managed to shift a load of weight as he pursued his acting career.

It was Ray Winstone, his The Sweeney co-star, that had spurred his decision to get in shape.

"Ray came into the studio and we were talking about my character and how someone as young as me has got the part," Plan B told The Sun.

"We were saying how I've got to be a man in his early thirties, super-smart, excels in exams, brilliant at sports and Ray looked me up and down and goes, 'Are you sure you're going to get yourself in good enough shape?'

I thought right then and there, 'I'm going to do it'. That's the extra incentive I needed. I thought, 'I'll f***ing show you, pal'."

He added at the time: "I'm just eating salad, steaks and fish now. I'm eating a lot of prawns. I love prawns. I've even been eating the prawns that have been in the fridge for a few days, it goes through you quicker, you know. That helps weight loss."
