Reese Witherspoon’s sexiest roles as she turns 45 – nude scenes to alley romp

Reese Witherspoon made in her name in Hollywood girl-next-door roles.

Many fans will remember her playing the famously ditzy socialite Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde movies, of which a third instalment will be released in May next year.

But now Reese is one of the highest-paid actresses in the world having risen phoenix-like up the A-list ladder.

The 45-year-old is a two-time Golden Globe award winner and a Primetime Emmy Award winner.

But you’d be forgiven if you didn’t readily associate the 45-year-old Academy Award-winning actress with sex scenes.

However during her lengthy career, Reese has got down and dirty in a number of movies and has stripped completely down to her birthday suit.

But in 2014 she confessed she was going completely bare in another way, as she appeared on camera without makeup for the first time.

As she turns 45 today (March 22), Daily Star takes a look back at some of her most provocative roles.

Legally Blonde (2001)

While Legally Blonde doesn't feature any raunchy action, it does see Reese in her most famous role as Elle Woods.

In Elle's video essay to get into Harvard, she speaks to the camera from the pool in a range of super hot swimsuits.

At one point, a birds-eye view shot sees her floating across the pool in a lime green bikini covered in sequins on an inflatable floatie.

Her slender figure was on full display, with the string bottoms pulled high up on her waist.

Needless to say, she managed to get into Harvard.

The movie also saw Reese wear a number of fun outfits as Elle, who managed to overcome the stereotype that she was a dumb blonde and use her interest in beauty to help solve a case.

Wild (2014)

Reese produced and starred in Nick Hornby’s successful screenplay, based on the book Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by author Cheryl Strayed.

Reese revealed some of the scenes were so risqué, that her then 15-year-old daughter Ava Phillippe found them a tad uncomfortable to watch.

She also had to use a hypnotist to calm her nerves before shooting her sex scenes.

"There's a lot of explicit sex scenes in this movie and she's like, 'Oh no!'" revealed Reese, speaking to the Globe and Mail on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival

“But I think it’s a really brave film in that [honest] sense, it tells women not to be embarrassed or ashamed about their bodies – or any experience they’ve had."

Reese might have left her daughter red-faced, but she was nominated for a Best Actress Academy award for her portrayal of exploring Cheryl, who dabbled with drugs before setting off on an enlightening hike through the Pacific Trail.

One heated scene saw the Hollywood star having passionate sex in a hotel room, before romping up against a wall with two men in an alleyway.

She recalled in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK: "There were small descriptions in the script, but when he [director Jean-Marc Vallée] started describing what we were going to do, that’s when I started to panic. I was like, 'Wait. What are you talking about?'

"That’s [the sex scenes], like, 3% of the movie, but it took up a tremendous amount of fear in my mind because it’s daunting.

"I never looked ahead at the schedule. I would wake up in the morning and say, 'What are we doing today?' And, I’d prepare on the way to work. Sometimes I was just terrified. Like a cat on a raft…'You can’t make me do it.'"

And while Reese had gone nude on camera before, she had never gone bare in the makeup department, which she admitted "wasn't easy".

Cruel Intentions (1999)

  • ‘The Oscars are nothing but a bunch of self-indulgent luvvies in an orgy of smugness’

Reese was the centre of a cruel wager in this teen romantic drama which she starred in with then fiancé Ryan Phillippe.

Two vicious step-siblings from an elite Manhattan prep school hatched a wager to deflower the new headmaster’s daughter (Reese playing the character Annette Hargrove) before the start of term.

The 1999 film starred Sarah Michelle Gellar (of Buffy the Vampire fame) and Joshua Jackson (Dawson’s Creek), and focused on a seductive Sebastian (Ryan) trying to take Reese’s virginity.

The highly-charged hormone-fuelled movie was a box office success and shows Reese romping with Ryan with sweat dripping off their bodies.

The film, which was a two-time MTV Movie Award winner, is an adaptation of the Les Liaisons dangereuses, the 18th century novel about a pair of incredibly seductive and equally diabolical libertines.

Fear (1996)

A baby-faced Reese played the character Nicole Walker in the 1996 thriller.

Starring alongside Mark Wahlberg and William Peterson, of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation fame, new kid on the block Reese amazingly had an orgasm on a rollercoaster ride in this movie.

The Rolling Stones’ song Wild Horses played in the background as she is pleasured by her co-star and screams in delight as the rollercoaster rushes around the track.

Twilight (1998)

  • Inside Netflix's Lost Pirate Kingdom and the truth behind notorious Blackbeard

Reese starred as Mel Ames in crime drama Twilight, which also starred the likes of Paul Newman and Susan Sarandon.

In it, Reese gets up close and personal with a fresh-faced Liev Schreiber (who played Jeff Willis) in one notable bedroom scene after the pair had been frolicking by the pool.

The movie was one of Reese’s very early roles, after she first broke into acting seven years previously in The Man in the Moon.

Reese's character was a 17-year-old runaway, who was found at a Mexican resort.

She accidentally shoots ex-cop Harry Ross (Paul Newman) in a struggle, before the movie moves on two years.

Of course, there are a number of twists and turns in the movie – but it only got a mixed review from viewers.

One more positive review said that "nuanced performances" from the cast meant Twilight "can't help but be compelling".
