Ricky Martin wins court case as nephew drops harassment claims against him

Ricky Martin has won his court case after his nephew withdrew sexual relation and harassment claims against the singer.

His nephew previously claimed the 50-year-old singer stalked and harassed him after a seven month relationship, but they have now dropped the claims.

A judge has withdrawn the previous restraining order against the Livin' La Vida Loca star, who appeared virtually at a Puerto Rico court on Thursday (July 21) but did not address the court.

The nephew had been granted the temporary order from a judge earlier this month, which was due to end on Thursday.

However, the judge has now ordered it to be archived, meaning the case was closed, according to a judicial spokesperson.

Martin, who has strongly denied all the accusations, tweeted that the "truth prevails" after the order was archived.

His legal team said the accuser was a "troubled individual" who made "false allegations" with no evidence to support them.

They said in a statement: "Just as we had anticipated, the temporary protection order was not extended by the court.

"The accuser confirmed to the court that his decision to dismiss the matter was his alone, without any outside influence or pressure, and the accuser confirmed he was satisfied with his legal representation in the matter. The request came from the accuser asking to dismiss the case.

"This was never anything more than a troubled individual making false allegations with absolutely nothing to substantiate them. We are glad that our client saw justice done and can now move forward with his life and his career."

His accuser had claimed he feared for his safety as Martin had refused to respect his decision to end a romantic relationship.

In a domestic violence complaint, he also alleged Martin had continued calling him and hung around outside his home.

Ricky shot to fame in the early 1990s and is best known for his number one 1999 hit single, Livin' la Vida Loca.

He has since earned a ton of awards including two Grammy Awards, Billboard Music Awards and American Music Awards.
