Samson's frontman Nicky Moore has died at the age of 75 after a swift battle with Parkinson's Disease.

On Wednesday (August 3), the British musician – who paved the way for heavy metal bands in the 1980s – died after he was reportedly diagnosed with the life-changing illness.

According to Louder magazine, the singer lived out his final days in the heart of a loving nursing home before he sadly passed away surrounded by his close friends and family.

The lead singer's sad passing was confirmed by his team in a statement which they released on the band's official account on Facebook.

It read: "It is with immense sadness and almost unbearably heavy hearts that we have to let you all know that Nicky – a man larger than life in body and spirit – has sadly passed away this morning.

"A man that lived a thousand lifetimes in just one has decided he needed a rest. Rest well, dear friend. We will all miss you" which they signed off with a kiss.

Moore – who hailed from Devon – first found his passion for music after he became a choir boy as a child.

But as he matured during his teenage years, the singer fell in love with rock music which spurred on his desire to start his own rock music career in bands such as Hackensack which he formed in 1969.

As he struggled to find his footing in the music industry, he also joined the group Tiger in 1974 alongside 'Big' Jim Sullivan before he found his permanent home with Samson in 1981.

As soon as the artist joined the heavy metal group, he instantly started to change the direction of their music with albums such as Before The Storm and Don't Get Mad, Get Even.

Their journey recording and touring with the two chart-topping albums was also featured on a live album titled Thank You and Goodnight.

Aside from working with the well-known rock band, Moore also performed with a slew of other bands.

This included Mammoth alongside Gillian bassist John McCoy, From Behind with the late Nazareth guitarist Manny Charlton and Electric Sun which also featured Scorpions' Ulu Jon Roth.

Samson fans have also mourned the death of guitarist Paul Samson, who passed away back in 2002 following his lengthy battle with cancer, as well as bassist Chris Aylmer who sadly died five years later.
