Sarcasm to fake smiles – expert susses out Strictly’s least compatible couples

Strictly Come Dancing 2022 kicked off on September 23 this year after it was delayed as the BBC changed its TV schedule following the Queen's death on September 8.

The launch show was followed by the first live show on Saturday, September 24, which means that dancers are now in their third week of the competition.

Viewers watched last Saturday as Loose Women star Kaye Adams was voted off the show following a dance-off with singer Matt Goss.

As the latest season of Strictly heats up following the first dance-off, who are the most compatible couples of the series so far and which couples have no chemistry on the dance floor?

Reboot Link Building Agency partnered up with celebrity psychic and body language expert Inbaal Honigman to uncover which pairs are swaying in chemistry. Here's everything you need to know.

Who are the most compatible Strictly couples?

According to the body language expert, Fleur East and Vito Coppola are the most compatible couple on the dance floor, with a chemistry score of 95%.

Inbaal said of their most recent routine: "An energetic routine which doesn't demand a constant smile, gives us a glimpse of their genuine expressions, and what a lovely match of personalities these two display.

"They pull off 'cool face' expressions together and flash some genuine smiles at each other. Her clenched hands betray her nervousness but his touch is very soft and caring. Their hug at the end is very real and enthusiastic – fabulous chemistry”.

The second most compatible couple, according to Ms Honigman, are Tyler West and Dianne Buswell, who have a chemistry score of 90%.

The expert states: "These two seem to share some lovely secret smiles and open gazes at each other – more than just the prepared choreography. Their eye contact is focused and many of their smiles are small and personal, not broad and staged, showing a real affection.

"They show real joy and pride in each other as they interact after the dance. She strokes his face, he beams from ear to ear – definite chemistry."

Ms Honigman ranked recently eliminated Kaye Adams and Kai Widdrington in third place for their chemistry during their routine (89%), with Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu (80%), and Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal (75%) in fourth and fifth place respectively.

Who are the least compatible couple on Strictly?

The chemistry between each couple becomes clearer throughout the series, however, some contestants are said to lack compatibility already in season 20.

According to Ms Honigman, Tony Adams and Katya Jones are the least compatible, with a chemistry score of 5%.

She said: “It's hard to analyse the body language of a contestant so focused on just not falling over – his eyes look straight ahead at all times and his back is as straight as possible, minimising his chances of tripping. And his kind and compassionate dance partner is nimble on her feet to ensure she's not in his way.

"At the end, he hugs her as one would a lifebuoy, thankful and relieved – no chemistry.”

EastEnders star James Bye and professional partner Amy Dowden are also said to be an incompatible couple with a chemistry score of 15%.

Ms Honigman explained: "There is a real dissonance between her smiling, shining expression and his neutral, almost sarcastic face. They are not mirroring each other's facial expressions and there is no exchange of smiles and glances. "Their cuddle is distant – no chemistry."

In third place are Matt Goss and Nadiya Bychkova, whose "passion is reserved for the dancing, not for each other", with a chemistry score of 20%.

Fan favourites Will Mellor and Nancy Xu are in fourth place, with a chemistry score of 35%, and Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez are in fifth place, with a score of 45%.
