TV mogul Simon Cowell was a millimetre away from snapping his back in half and ending up paralyzed from his e-bike accident.

He said the crash at his LA home has now made him feel better than ever.

The 61-year-old X Factor supremo said that recovering at home meant he was kept clear of Covid during the pandemic.

Cowell said he is in great spirits just nine months after fighting back from his accident which left him with a devastating spinal injury.

The entrepreneur is looking forward to hitting TV screens again Stateside shortly on America’s Got Talent season 16.

While he recovered with unexpected swiftness, Cowell said the injury could have easily been much more debilitating.

"If you saw the scan, I mean, I was like a millimetre away from just completely cutting my back in half. So I consider myself lucky," he said.

"It could’ve been a lot worse."

But being stuck indoors while recuperating may have actually been a blessing in disguise.

"Weirdly it was a good thing that it happened," Cowell shared.

"I didn’t get COVID because I wasn’t able to travel and I probably would’ve done my fair share last year."

Additionally, physical therapy required him to take on the kind of exercise he needed to get in great shape.

"That whole therapy thing you really, really have to exercise more," he said. "So I feel better than I did a year ago."

Simon was forced to pull out of Britain's Got Talent after the accident, leaving Diversity star Ashley Banjo to temporarily replace him on the panel.

His co-star, Amanda Holden, later claimed the Syco star would return to film the 2021 series, however, ITV were forced to cancel the production due to the pandemic.

A statement released by ITV read: "Despite everyone at ITV, Thames and Syco doing their best to make it happen, and with our absolute priority of safeguarding the well-being and health of every person involved in the programme from judges, hosts and contestants to all of the crew and audience, the decision has been made to – unfortunately – move the record and broadcast of the 15th series of Britain's Got Talent to 2022."

Fingers crossed BGT – and Simon Cowell – will be back on our screens come 2022.
